Does anyone have any pictures of their subwoofer installation in a 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback? I would prefer to NOT just set an enclosure in that hatch area. I'm thinking something a little cleaner. Maybe even something like one of those side enclosures I've seen in other cars??? I have no idea where to begin to locate something like that? I'm a visual guy so if anyone is will to share some pix and details of their system, it would be much appreciated.
Man I found a feller on Youtube who had a custom sub put in the hatch area on the side, and I think he said it was almost $2k. I am thinking the "under the seat" thing might be the way to go.
The amplifier is mounted on the back of the rear seat. This is temporary until I become unlazy enough to do a better setup. I had an audio place do the wiring for the sub, amp, loc, and controller.
Truth be told, that $2k was probably because they used hella high end components. I made a custom fiberglass setup in the back corners of my 2002 civic and didn't recall spending anywhere close to that.
Maybe $100 in fiberglassing materials
$150 on the sub (Alpine Type-R)
$200 on the amp (Alpine PDX 1.600 -- got it open box for hella cheap)
$150 on an audio processing unit (kinda like a crossover I guess? Alpine PXA-H100, another cheap *** open box item)
$50 on a Monster 1F capacitor
$100 on a JL Audio wiring kit and other associated peripherals (fuse block, fancy negative battery terminal, power cable splitter with a 2AWG cable capacity, etc)
wasn't the prettiest, but it was secure and out of the way. In hindsight, I should've carpeted it instead of the paint job I did. Also, it was my very first time ever messing with fiberglass. Very DIY-able. Just really messy and takes a lot of patience.
It actually sounded really good. Rough measurements (since weird shape) came out pretty close to Alpine's recommended volume for a sealed box (IIRC appx 0.75ft³). I don't have my 7thgen anymore though, so I haven't had this hooked up since late 2017.
I think Pioneer has been the Honda OEM speaker manufacturer for a while. I'd have to double check what the 10thgen has, but from what I recall (without googling) that's what they are.

Interesting. Pioneer isn't terrible lol! I'm thinking of putting a sub and amp in, but am afraid if I don't put a little more juice to the rest of the system, it'll sound crappy. But I also don't wanna blow some entry level factory speakers by driing them too hard.
Honestly, I don't think the stock system sounds too terrible. It's decent for what it is. Not as bad as I've heard some people comment about them (the "OMG I've heard better bass from my backside after eating Taco Bell" kinda remarks). My 2018 sport hatch didn't have tweeters, and dropping those in made a world of difference.
also, just verified Pioneers. Basic as hell Pioneers, but Pioneers nonetheless. Lol, list price on 'em is $15. We'll just leave it at that.
I have a pair of brand new JBL's (gto 628) That I never installed in a different vehicle. I am thinking about tossing those in the front doors. I also have an older MB quart PWE 252 10" sub in a custom box that I am driving with a kicker monoblock. That sub absolutely rocks in my boat! I am thinking of pulling all the wiring for the sub and amp in the civic, and then doing a plug and play swap of the sub from the boat, to the car, for the non boating months (I'm in WI so more non boating, than boating months lol.
really? my 2017 has some right where the side mirrors attach. I assume thats what they are, since thats what they look like
Yeah, you have (presumably) a Canadian Sport hatch. Just judging by the fact you used kilometers instead of miles in another post. They nerfed the crap out of the US models and gave everyone else fancy stuff. The USDM Sport model is essentially an LX with the lip kit, paddle shifters, and an advanced sensor (knock sensor, IIRC) that adjusts timing to give it that extra 8hp boost when using premium octane fuel. The Canadian Sport hatch is the same, but based on the EX instead.
