2019 Hatchback EX - Looking for best sound upgrades
2019 Hatchback EX - Looking for best sound upgrades
Hello all,
I have a 2019 Hatchback EX. I did the visual upgrades I wanted - Smoked side markers, tints, and rubber mats inside. Last thing I really want is to make the car sound better. I know since it's a CVT I won't get much "upgrades" out of it to make it faster, and I also want to continue getting the best MPG possible. That said, I just want to make it sound nicer. I've heard it can be accomplished with a muffler or a new intake. What are your guys' thoughts? Looking for something relatively easy (I can do upgrades myself if needed) and relatively cheap. Hoping for less than $300. Thoughts?

Sri or cai to hear turbo sounds. PRL or 27WON are my recommendations, but they definitely run in the $300-400 range. If you're feeling adventurous, you can do what I did and go the DIY route. I spent a fraction of the cost of those intakes and got the same result with no screwy MAF readings. With the ram air induction, my IATs stay, at most, 10-15 above ambient temps, even less during the winter, so that's nice. There's a link in my sig for 10th gen DIY articles. DIY intake is in there.
Muffler delete on these turbo models is actually kinda nice, though there is slight (very slight) drone at about 1850-2000rpm. It's not so bad that I can't carry on conversation with passengers, nor does it overpower my music. Muffler delete cost me $150 out the door, with tips, at my local muffler shop.
As far as go fast mods, ktuner does a world of wonder for the 1.5t. My CVT with a +6psi tune is faster than a stock Si, still getting 30-32mpg around town doing mostly city streets, 42+ on highway road trips. My current tank with 200 miles on it is sitting at 36mpg with prolly 60% highway miles. Definitely best bang for buck mod tho at $450 for a ktuner v1.2
If you click the "look at how she's growing" link in my sig, that thread is an active journal for how I'm modding my 18 sport hatch
