Bigger Front Brakes
Bigger Front Brakes
Hello everyone I am currently in the process of looking around to find a bigger front brake kit for my 2018 Hatchback sport. I was thinking of buying some used Type R brembos but im not sure if they would fit. Seems like all the kits are at least $1,000 + and I'm looking for a cheaper option. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?? Thanks

Re: Bigger Front Brakes
Hyundai Genesis brembos and Nissan Rogue (with 3rd row seat) rotors. Bolts right up, but you'll need +30 offset, +35s with 5mm spacers, or OEM rims with at least 20mm spacers to clear.
Re: Bigger Front Brakes
Awesome thanks Ill be looking into getting one of these. Know have any websites that sell them cheap or can buy used ones?
Also what year for the Hyundai and Nissan ?

Re: Bigger Front Brakes
Let me collect more data about the swap, because apparently DC5R brembos and S2K rotors are a bolt on upgrade, too. I'll post up what I find

Re: Bigger Front Brakes
Genesis/Rogue combo:
- Calipers: OEM Genesis Coupe brembo calipers, any year. Caliper mounting pattern is the same as the 10thgen
- Rotors: Front rotors (320mm x 26mm) from a Nissan Rogue that is equipped with 3rd row seating. From my bit of google searching, MY 2017+ S and SV trims may be your best bet
- Spacers or aftermarket wheels (18"+ recommended) required for fitment (list below includes popular offsets for wheel choices on the 10thgen). Keep in mind that the spacer thing is approximate. The goal here is to get at least 3.5mm clearance between the caliper and the spokes of the wheel. The 20mm and +35 with 5mm spacer options are the ones I've read about working, and all those push the wheel hub to about the position that a +30 would.
- 20mm spacers for OEM wheels (assuming +50 offset for OEM)
- +45 offset with 15mm spacers
- +35 offset with 5mm spacers
- +30 offset with no spacers
- Brake dust shield trimming is required
- Because my google-fu is strong, found a link you can buy it as a kit, so no guessing required.
- On one person's BBK setup, they used StopTech Sport 309.10010 pads. That said, any of the vehicles on the fitment list below that were equipped with OEM brembo calipers should fit:
- 2004 - 2008 Acura TL
- 2012 - 2017 Buick Regal
- 2018 - 2020 Buick Regal Sportback
- 2013 - 2019 Cadillac ATS
- 2016 - 2020 Cadillac CT6
- 2004 - 2019 Cadillac CTS
- 2006 - 2011 Cadillac STS
- 2013 - 2019 Cadillac XTS
- 2016 - 2020 Chevrolet Camaro
- 2014 - 2019 Chevrolet Corvette
- 2005 - 2006 Ford GT
- 2007 - 2014 Ford Mustang
- 2017 - 2019 Honda Civic
- 2010 - 2014 Hyundai Genesis Coupe
- 2003 - 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer
- 2009 - 2009 Pontiac G8
- 2011 - 2011 Saab 9-5
- 2017 - 2018 Subaru BRZ
- 2003 - 2014 Subaru Impreza
- 2013 - 2017 Subaru WRX STI
- 2019 - 2020 Toyota 86
- 2004 - 2007 Volvo S60
- 2004 - 2007 Volvo V70
- Calipers: 2002-2006 DC5R brembo calipers
- Rotors: Front rotors (282mm x 23mm) from a 2002-2009 Honda S2000
- Pads: The video I found (linked below), guy used G35/350Z hawk pads (I can only assume this link is for the correct pads. The link on his youtube description is broken. Couldn't find much else on this swap, other than it's the same size rotor as OEM (different rotor offset) with better calipers, and lighter weight than the Gen/Rogue combo

lol, that's why they randomly made me an Admin here. Legit logged in one day and saw "administrator" next to my username.
also, been looking at the swap, myself. All the DIY stuff I see if for the Si, but read threads of people doing it on other trims, as well. For me, I'm prolly gonna do the swap after I get rims.

Re: Bigger Front Brakes
The rears are a bit trickier because of the electronic e-brake. From what I've read, no. Most of your braking power comes from the fronts anyways, so I wouldn't bother. Get a good pad and rotor setup and you should be good
On my 2002, I did a rear disc swap, and really only changed the pads once over the course of the 13 years I had the swap.

Re: Bigger Front Brakes
np. What I was planning on doing if/when I did the brake upgrade was just to grab some rear rotors/pads from r1concepts.com. I've read nothing but good things about them, plus really good pricing for performance stuff. $107 for their "geomet" drilled/slotted rotors, and $71 for their standard line. They frequently have 10-30% off coupon codes, too. Like right now, for the next hour and 50 minutes, 30% off with the code "Force"
My friend got a full 4-rotor (plain)/ceramic pad setup for her '16 sonata for like.. $150 shipped with a 20% off code a few months ago
