HID Headlights

Thinking about upgrading to HID.

Do I need to do anything, other than just put the bulbs in? I know, generic question, lol

Re: HID Headlights

not sure about 10th gen, are they good enough to just put it in?

And no, they require additional relays and ballasts to function

Re: HID Headlights

Sandro, HIDs I have in mine are dropped into OEM projectors. They do fine without blinding oncoming traffic, but the beam pattern isn't gonna be anywhere near as good as an HID projector

In fact, the beam pattern (hotspots, squirrel finder, etc) are identical to the OEM halogens, well, with a good quality bulb (e.g. morimoto bulbs from TRS)

OP, here are some output pics of my setup so you can see what it looks like when you drop H11B HID bulbs into the stock projectors.

and, from a slightly different angle, before I got my yellow fogs. Shows the beam pattern on the road better from this angle

Without the fogs on (I keep 'em on bc I'm ricer like that. lol)

The OEM projectors do scatter a bit of light in the foreground, and a true HID retrofit (TRS makes a more-or-less drop in adapter kit for the Morimoto Mini H1) would eliminate the foreground lighting.

For your edification, here's the setup (Morimoto Elite Kit) I have:
Morimoto xB 35W ballasts
Morimoto H11B 5500K bulbs
Morimoto H11 relay harness -- When theretrofitsource.com sent me my kit, it came with 2-12" 9006 extension harnesses. For a clean install with wires hidden and whatnot, you'll need to use at least one of them.

Re: HID Headlights

I still like the HID output. It goes further than LED. The light scatter everywhere with the H1 bulbs. They are not focus in the projector.
