On the 2016 honda civic sedan my low on gas light pops on when tank is near empty or still has some gas left in the tank. My question is , on the speedometer does it inform you how many exact miles you have left before the tank is empty?

Check for a "range" in the display near MPG info.

It has about ~2 gal left...... but I would not run it a whole lot past the notification.

The 3 indicators on my 13 certainly make you aware, I put gas in it to get rid of them.

civic444 … s'not a good idea to 'hot-dog' the fuel-gauge. once the range descends to "0" … there still remains a reserve of 1+gal … however, as craigw suggested … that's playing with fire. would you really want to put your friend's safety in such dire predicament?

according to pg# 71 on the 2015-civic-sedan owner-manual (ATR0154DOM.pdf):
Low Fuel Indicator

• Comes on when the fuel reserve is running low (approximately 1.9 U.S. gal./7.5 Liter left).
• Blinks if there is a problem with the fuel gauge.
• Comes on - Refuel your vehicle as soon as possible.
• Blinks - Have your vehicle checked by a dealer.

What trim car do you have?

Have you pushed all the buttons that control the display to see what is available?

Have you looked in your owners manual?

Nothing in the owners manual about low fuel indicator but the gas pump icon does appear and light up as yellow when gas is low. I have the base model LX sedan 2016 I will insert image of dashboard when i get a chance . Display buttons? Will check that out

Was this what you meant ? I had 45 miles left When i got to 39 the yellow gas pump icon appeared

Yes, range (on current amount of fuel in tank)

I used to run my 2010 long after 0 segments were left....but stopped doing so.

You mean to tell me after the range was 0 your car still had gas in the tank or still ran on the road without conking out ? Did the numeral fall into a negative category on the dashboard ?

No i agree with you but at least i know where i stand as far as remaining gas mileage. My Honda 2003 EX 6cyl accord did not have this feature so when i was close to empty i was in fear of the unknown

The 2010 did not have the MPG info just fuel gauge, and the light also came on at 2 segments remaining.

But yes, as mentioned even if your range was reading 0 you would still have some fuel left.

just not a good idea, though, as time passes, some debris could be at the tank, and it could get sucked into the fuel system.

In Winter, I also keep it at least half tank - who knows when i will be stranded. if engine runs, better to have heating.

That is a great feature to know how many miles i have left. According to the specs the tank takes 12 gallons to fill . Am i right on that? With gas around $1.50 it will only cost $18 to fill the tank . Accord cost close to $30 to fill up

In my 2012 civic lx the light comes on with 2 bars/dots on the fuel gauge. took around 11 gallons of gas at that point. owners manual says tank hold 13.2 gallons. i'll check next time i refuel to see what range is left then I can figure how much fuel is left in tank

why bother letting your gas get that low in the first place?

i rarely ever let mine go below half, 1/4 at the most
