New Exhaust 99 Civic EX [solved]
New Exhaust 99 Civic EX [solved]
Early May this year, My 99 Civic EX (294k) developed a pretty decent hole in the pipe right before the muffler. It was hella quiet before the hole. Then it got super loud.
I brought it to a mechanic along with this replacement. See the photos belowhttps://www.ebay.com/itm/313821547857
This kit made it very super duper next level loud. Like I'm in high school loud. That's all well and good but I'm 56 not 16. The exhaust has been on the car for about 4 months now and it's gotta go. I purchased a More Information for WALKER 18561 (rockauto.com) hopeful to just jack the car up, unbolt the less than 4 month old bolts and rebolt this new Walker muffler onto the brand new pipes. When I took a look under there, there were no spring bolts, just bolts, and I'm concerned about the pipe diameter of the high-performance kit being larger than the OEM style Walker.
Do I see new cat back OEM style pipes in my future? Or should I just get the proper gasket and bolt it on to the shiny stainless steels?

original posting in ebay not available, you will need to measure the pipes yourself...
or take an exhaust shop and have them weld a fitting

Those kits usually come with a silencer. I welded it in on my '00 because agreed it's horribly loud. With the silencer welded in it's pretty decent. You could use a chunk of sheet metal with a hole in the middle.
Otherwise just put the stock style muffler on and call it a day.

conflicting stock size piping info in the internet ranging from 1.75 to 2", so as mentioned before, just take it to a exhaust shop and have them figure that out.
Exhaust shops are not expensive

I'm glad I was smart enough to not even attempt to do it with hand tools under jackstands.
He cut it at the top of the bend going into the muffler and just adapted it down and welded it. Way over my pay grade.
