96 Dx mini me swap questions
Hey guys im new to this forum and was wondering if i could get some advice for my swap. Currently have a stock d16y7 and was looking for an ex to pull the y8 from. Also thinking of pulling the ex tranny and swapping that aswell. Any advice would help thanks.
Re: 96 Dx mini me swap questions
you will need a y8 cylinder head that is complete with intake manifold and throttle body if you can get it.
a knock sensor (get one for a 96 civic ex at the parts store) ~$120
a p2p vtec ecu from an ex. manual if your car is a manual. auto if it is auto.
about 4 ecu pins (from a yard where you get the ecu from or sometimes they pop up on ebay)
3 2 wire honda harness pigtails (for vtec pressure switch, iacv, and knock sensor)
timing belt and tensioner (waterpump if you want to do preventative maintanence)
odds and ends like wire to wire up your vtec solenoid and knock sensor 12-14g is fine.
vacuum line
also make sure since your car is obd2a that you get parts from a 96-98 ex not 99-00. they will work if you cant find obd2a but its just simpler to install.
as far as the transmission make sure you get a new clutch and flywheel or resurface the old flywheel at a machine shop.
a chiltons or helms manual should be your best friend if your not entirely sure how to do all the work.
