Question about cold air intake system

Does anyone know if I can put on an cold air intake system on my 2002 Honda LX coupe?!?!?!
is it gonna give me any better performance!?!?!?.. cuz my friend told me that jsut putting the intake system w/o any other mods may actually damage the engine since it's stock......or at least wont give me any extra horsepower.........

thanks for the replies......!!!

well first off your friend is a MORON for telling you that, and yes you can put one on. Do you have a auto or manual.

Your friend was 1/2 right. You will see minimal performance increase, But it will be better than stock. It won't hurt your engine. As you add more mods the CAI's help will increase. You will lose some low end power, but gain lots of high end power which is what our Honda's love.

I agree with both... i have an AEM on my '01 LX coupe. The increase was noticable, but minor. with more you get more benifits from the intake. you have to continue the flow of air-which the addition of an exhaust aids greatly... (did that last friday). Headers are another step up too in this department.

for auto, there are the brand name intakes that work:

AEM SRI
InJen SRI, InJen CAI
K&N Typoon SRI
K&N FIPK (best SRI, imo, most expensive SRI though)

and er.. pretty much any ebay generic SRI will fit too.

so generally, installing a SRI would gain less horsepower than CAI.. is that right?
what are the other difference?!?!

If you're not going to do all three at once (CAI, cat back, header), my guess is that your first mod should be the exhaust, then the CAI and header together. This way, you can at least enjoy the new "sound" of your car while you're saving up for the other two mods. Adding only one of these three isn't going go give you any increase in power worth writing home about, so getting the CAI first might get boring. Once you have the exhaust and are set to get the other two, the increase in power will be noticeable.
