question about the Throttle-Body Heater Bypass
I've always wondered the same damn thing. I live in MS so I really dont need it, but whats the point if there is no benefit???
if you live in a hotter climate(ie az, socal, texas) it MAYBE helps if you remove it because it doesnt heat the throttle body(therefore not heating the intake charge).....thats the idea anyway.
useless mod. doesnt and will not do any thing in terms of performance, dont waste your time.

in colder climates its needed. warmer climates can bypass it. reason for it is because in colder climates water in the air can freeze on/around ur TB, sometimes keeping it from turning. thus you could be stuck on the gas when you need to stop. there was a thread about it somewhere around here by noodleboy i think. Very Enlightening Post by n00dleboy
EDIT: maybe i'm thinking of something else....

the point of doing this is so that nice expensive 'cold' air intake you bought will actuly let in cold air. other wise the air is cold until it gets to the hot throttle body thus making the colder, denser, more benificial air into hot, thin and not as powerful air. just my 2 cents

Yes, in some cases this will restore a little bit of power that is lost when the air is heated up. As stated before in some of the answers in the DIY. If you have a CAI, the heat will transfer and heat up the pipe, which takes away some of the few horses that you gain from the CAI. If you pessimists would have actually read the DIY, you would already know this because it explains the concept and states that you will get no large gains. Common sense works too....

I actually think that during the summer when it's like 105 to 110 degrees in some parts of the world, this mod might .. Might . . MIGHT. . gain you 1HP. But don't count on it.
This heater though I'm guessing only heats the air when it's needed? Meaning that it's only going to do something during the winter, during the summer it's not going to make the air even hotter.
