Most of the time, gains for a 7th gen will be less than that of previous models, due to the limitations on fuel/air mix, ignition timing, etc by the ECU which is designed to give best economy and lowest emissions. The way to get full advantage from bolt ons is to chip the ECU or install one of the programmable units which allows a borader range of operating parameters.

When the first AEM SRI for 7th gen came out I called up the speed shop in Huntsiville and had them order one. The previous gen SRI listed at $150 the new one to me at that figure. Well, when I went to pick it up, he said it was $250. I didn't even open the box, and just told the guy to send it back or keep it. I didn't want any part of such gouging, no matter how new or how "good" it was supposed to be. Now people say they can buy those same intakes for $90 to $100. Now I have the K&N FIPK, in my opinion, a much better engineered and functional product, and I have much more trust in K&N since I've used their stuff for almost 10 years on another car. IMHO, AEM is a bunch of hype.

Intakes can do some good, but they aren't magic. It's kinda like JC Whitney's old ads for glass pack mufflers. "Get that hot rod sound".

AEM used to use K&N filters but they now use there own which are supposedly a better design that are a little less restrictive (but not much).
