I bought the kit for $250 canadian...not sure what that works out to in USD (probably 100 bucks).
To not void the warranty, I got the dealership guys to throw 'em in. Like the other reply states: don't try to do it yourself if you don't know what you're doing. You need the belt tool and a few other tools that I didn't have in my garage.
I definitely noticed a difference...its not a top-end/low-end thing, its an ALL-ROUND change. The pulleys are always turning (its for the alternator and powersteering), so the gain is always there. Checkout the dyno stats for the accord on the aem website.
In combination with my AEM CAI, I've had quite a noticable gain.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

i wrote a review of the aem underdrive pullies, and it used to be in the reviews section...i cant find it anymore though oh well, ya you need an air impact gun according to the directions they send with it, however i have seen in sears a simple pulley tool. dont suggest this though. get a mech to do it.

What up yall...I just got my AEM Underdrive Pulley Kit installed this Saturday and man...WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Note, that I do have a DC Header, DC TCS, and AEM SRI all on my car already....you can feel a huge difference when you take off...and when your hitting around 90 to 100 mph, you can feel it kick it big time! I like this addition to my car...I think its a great way to boost up HP...for those who want to know, I did take mine to a performance shop to get it installed...OUR civics are fast...don't be told otherwise!

and I doubt u can get more than 2 hp outta accessories lighten pullies...
duno if they're worth the money.. but I guess its a more definite increase in horsepower...
just dont be running any large system in the trunk or etc.
Any gain is noticeable, even 2HP is noticeable. Does it make our cars lightning fast? No, but when the I/H/E combo is installed, it just sweetens the deal. I got my pulleys for $220 CDN or 130 US.

I duon about u. but I dont think 2 hp can be felt..
do you feel the extra 5 hp or more from VTEC when it goes into the "wild" cam?
now of course if u bolt it all on.. and assuming it does give you 10 or so hp.. u'll probably feel it... but I duno about increasing it a bit at a time.

Some people say that the original crank pulleys have harmonic dampeners inside them and stuff like that. I've heard that the aem pulleys don't have them, do you guys think that it'll matter if it doesn't have them?
Wes, have you looked at your pulleys? 1 out of 3 only have a harmonic dampner and thats the crank pulley that does. The AEM kit does not replace that pulley, only your alternator pulley and your power steering pulley. So, don't worry about the dampner. AS for the unorthodox racing pulley set, it replaces all three and it does remove the dampner. There is too much controversy over if removing it is bad or not, of course Unorthodox will say it's not because they want to sell more and most people who install them don't see the long term effects of the pulleys.
As for 2HP making a difference, I think it would. First off, the pulleys would change the characteristics of the motor(how it runs, idles, revs, etc...) and with the power gain, you would notice this. It's like a catback exhaust, did you notice the 2HP increase with it, I would say yes but it didn't make my car noticeably faster. It's just that I felt the increase and thats it's noticeable but it's not a "slap in the face" noticeable.

i know i feel the 2 hp and esp on the freeway you definetly can feel your car pulling a litle bit harder. not saying huge diffrence but its almost worth the $130 bucks. not like anything else was worth the money for the gains, you might as well just get this one too.
Familyman, did you notice a gain from your pulleys? I realize that I'll notice the new colour under my hood more than the gain it gives though and that 2HP wont make my car any noticeably faster.

To my knowledge there is no harmonic balancer on the the crank pulley of the 7th gen civics. There is a rubber ring to help with vibration or something but no balancer. Someone correct me if this is wrong.

Pretty much I felt gains all around..and most noticably in the high rpm stage...and yeah our civics are fast cause I raced a 01' Eclipse GS last night by almost 1 1/4 car length...he had a 5zigen Fireball exhaust....I'm not saying that the Pulley kit makes your car turbocharged...all i'm sayin is that you can feel a difference in speed and power...anyways...yall goin' to the 7th Gen Civic Meeting in SF?
Well, UR is a 3 pulley set and offers the most gains. As for underdriving the acessorys, they don't as much as AEM does. UR gets most of its gain from the weight savings in the crank pulley. Only cons I know about the UR is that they don't come with the belts required and require you to install 3 pulleys instead of 2. Also, UR can sustain a larger stereo than AEM. I know I can't afford the money for UR pulleys, so, I am settling with AEM myself.
I am settling with AEM myself. ......Yah, me too......I'm just waiting for the group buy to get blue in,,they only have red & silver right now.....
