yeah that pic is the one for the 2001 civic... the picture of the FIPK anyway...
KN does make metal pipe CAI like other companies... I dont think the one iamboo got is the FIPK...
personally I rather take FIPK... but its just another SRI... with a heatshield that I'm not even sure really works. heh.

it's a bag with a teflon coating... it's supposed to keep water out of the intake.. like when it rains and stuff.... they hooked it up to a vacuum and sprayed it with the hose... the filter stayed dry.... cool huh?? who needs a bypass valve when you have K&N technology =)

hmm interesting thing on the bag.. but er.. can the intake get air? isn't that a bit air restrictive? or does air get through the bag easily? whats the point of having an open air filter element if its covered by a bag?
also.. where ist he filter located? near the bumper or?
all in all, looks like any other CAI out there...
the bag and the filter location is all that I really care about...
I wonder if its even more expensive than the FIPK...

hmmm.. the bag restricts only about 15% of the air going in... but it doesn't restrict performance.... the intake can suck in about 500 cfm's of air... but our throttle bodies only suck about 225 cfm's of air without FI... so.... 15% of 500 is nowhere near 225... so it really doesn't matter.... the bag is just there to keep water out.... i have no idea what it's going to cost cause i got mine for free and i really didn't care what the price is.... the filter is located about a foot below the battery.... it's about one inch from being flush with the bottom of the bumper....

thanks for the responds man..
looks like a pretty solid design...
I'm thinking it may have the same performance numbers like the AEM's or InJens... which isn't much.

Hey, I didn't put all those links, just for my health, dude. Take the link or search for K&N, find the filter that has the correct ID for your intake and then find a place to buy it. We all just can't take you by the hand and lead you to it, then buy it and install it for you.
Is there actually a throttle body spacer for our car? If so, I believe it might mess up the fitment of an intake because of the fact that our throttle bodies open upward toward the hood. The intakes for our cars have been designed to make as smooth of a downward turn possible after the connection to the throttle body and not hit the hood. If you increase the height of the throttle body (i.e. with a "throttle body spacer"), the intake piping might interfere with the hood.
Just a thought...

Matter of fact one brand of intake is so tall the hood won't close. The AEM and Ingen are pretty tall. From the exact pic of the K&N, it isn't as tall and makes a gentler curve away from the TB. However I stlll don't know what a TB spacer is and what it does.

i made sure the pipe didn't touch the hood after i closed it.. they even showed me by sticking a ball of clay on top of the pipe and shutting the hood, it had a little over an inch of clearance and they also test things like situations when the pipe would move like when i hit the brakes real hard.. etc... any movement that would cause the motor to move...

i got my SRI put in on wednesday...they took my car early in the morning and put the system in for me and then i got it back early afternoon. they did not give me any information on the performance. although i have been meaning to email james yim and ask him if there is anyway i can get a copy of it. let me know if they give you a copy of yours
