Who know the truth?

Ractive suxs... if you want good stuff that'll actually be worth the money... buy stuff from companies that are on those GT Touring cars... AEM, INJEN, JUN, etc.

Yep yep. Word! AEM and Injen. Choose amung those two. Well, ICEMAN is allrightm but too much like stock IMO. JUN has an intake for our cars already? If so, then JUN would be another good choice. Mugen is another good choice. Any JDM company basically. DC Sports is coming out with something (if not already here)... They're not bad either.
ok please help me to understand... buying aem and expensive intake will not make my civic a porsche... may be 7-8hp, but will i feel it? my understand on intake world is that will give an awesome sound to my car... so why to put couple of hundred dollard more for aem instead of ractive? the sounds will be different? and the power, enough to be happy to pay more?
thanks a lot everybody, the intake world's is new to me...

Well... I know that Weapon-R intakes for our cars do not fit properly (if at all). I'm not sure about R-Active, but the R makes it suspicious. It's just that the saying, "You get what you paid for." still applies. The 6hp increase that the Injen cold air intake gives you isn't much in and of itself, but you will get more out of it when you have more modifications. For example, with nitrous an Injen intake might give you a 10hp increase. Anyway, if all you want is sound then get whatever.

Yes, that's what I mean. Let me explain. Let's say you have Just N2O and the stock intake. Your gain would be an X amount. Not let's say that you just have the Injen intake. Your gain would be a Y amount. Now, when you have both N2O and the Injen intake your gains would not just be X + Y. I think they would be X + Y + Z. Where Z would be some number > 0.
So basically I think that the Injen intake will give you bigger gains when you have bigger horsepower in the first place.

I know the main difference between AEM and the competition is their K&N filters and the ceramic coated tubing. But come on, is an AEM SRI really worth 200 bucks? What's there to stop you from getting say, an OBX SRI and ceramic coating it yourself, and slapping a K&N filter on it? I'm sure the overall cost would be much less... I know this is true because a friend of mine that works for Hocus Pocus Autodynamics in Houston dyno'ed several cars with AEM CAI's and ceramic-coated generic substitutes with K&N filters. The cheapos all made nearly the same, the same or more HP (though a VERY small difference either way) than the AEM counterparts, and cost about 1/3 of it.
Basically, my question is that is there a generic intake that fits as well as an AEM?

they sell it at hobby stores - there's also ceramic based spraypaint that should do the same job. I used ceramic based spraypaint on my headlight housings, and even with the high wattage bulbs they haven't shown any signs of fade or melting.
