02 Sensor: Check Engine Light Issue

My 05 Honda Civic EX check engine light came on. The code read was P0135 02s heater ckt malfunction. With that I changed the primary sensor in header, and reset the code. Within 10 miles or so the CEL came back on and this time the code was P0134 02 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank I Sensor 1).

I installed the old sensor back in and the P0135 code came back.

Could it not be the O2 sensor at all. the plugs all look good, wiring is intact. Is there a better procedure to test the circuitry? Your help is greatly appreciate, as my inspection is up and cannot get it done with this issue.

Re: 02 Sensor: Check Engine Light Issue

My guess: You got an incorrect sensor.

Whatever brand sensor was original, you need to get the exact same brand (DENSO or NTK) and it has to be the correct sensor part number.

And it's an Air/Fuel Ratio sensor, not an Oxygen sensor.

Re: 02 Sensor: Check Engine Light Issue

My guess as well. Same P0134 I got when I noticed the prior owner of my 04 EX put a 01-03 O2 sensor in instead of the 04-05 LAF sensor, which is much, much more expensive.

I got the Denso part online: pt# 234-9017 (Honda's pt# is 36531-PLR-003). Amazon, ~$150. Honda's will be much more expensive, for the exact same part.
