03 civic on rev limiter
03 civic on rev limiter
03 Honda civic vtec- when hit 4000 rpms pulling a hill in the mountains the rev limiter comes on. Concern is intermittent. only trouble code is cat efficiency. Can a cat cause an intermittent concern like this or is there a sensor that tells the rev limiter to come on? rev limiter works normal in park etc as it should

Re: 03 civic on rev limiter
Is the oil full?
Is it a rev limiter, or is it an exhaust restriction?
On your hills, will it go faster if you back off the gas pedal a little bit?
On a flat road....Can you accelerate wide open throttle through 1st and 2nd gears all the way to redline?
How bad is the cat? Does it rattle or anything?
If the cat substrate (guts) came apart, pieces could move downstream in the exhaust and bounce around get lodged, causing random clogging (excessive backpressure). That sure could act like a rev limiter of sorts.
