Short Ram or CAI? AEM? K&N? DC? Injen? Weapon R?
So im thinking on upgradeing the intake system on my d17a1, but idk if to go with a cold air intake or a short ram? and what brand?
I simply want the best, its stock engine. daily driven.
i wanna get the best milage.
my car soon will be lowered on skunk2 springs so this is why im not sure if i should get a CAI. it rains alot during winter time in L.A
but i heard DC has a intake thats both, you can convert a CAI to a short ram. And my consern about a short ram is will i be sucking hot air into my engine scinse the filter is right next to the engine?
another thing is does it matter if i get aluminum or plastic tube?
someone mention to me that K&N has a short ram with a Plastic tube that doesnt get as hot as a aluminum tube, that means cooler air. is this true?
last but not least, how much horse power will i gain with wath ever intake i get?
LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU GUYS HAVE ON YOUR RIDE??

Re: Short Ram or CAI? AEM? K&N? DC? Injen? Weapon R?
Short Ram AEM dryflow v2............. FTW
The only thing better is a plastic air intake possibly K&N with the AEM dryflow filter attached to it. Less heat soak. It certainally is true.

Re: Short Ram or CAI? AEM? K&N? DC? Injen? Weapon R?
So i can just buy a K&N short ram, use the filter it comes with, then later on upgrade to a AEM dryflow filter?

Re: Short Ram or CAI? AEM? K&N? DC? Injen? Weapon R?
If you want better mpg then you want more hot air so a short ram would be best. I have a CAI with no bypass and have never had a problem with water. Unless you drive into a puddle and the water completely submerges the filter will you have a problem. My tubing is aluminum and it does get hot after a while so a plastic one is best.
