K&N Typhoon SRI crack
K&N Typhoon SRI crack
I recently discovered I have a crack in the top of my K&N SRI. It is because it has been hitting the hood for long enough that it has slowly dug its way through to the center of the intake. Has anyone had problems with their intake rubbing like this? It is pushed as far down on the throttle body as it would go. Heres a lovely picture

A friend of mine and I are going to wrap the whole intake in header wrap tomorrow and spray some ceramic coating to see if this will solve the problem. If anyone has any ideas how to render this please tell me!!!

Re: K&N Typhoon SRI crack
thats a bad idea. header wrap isnt really for sealing leaks like that. grab some jb weld PUTTY from the auto store. tear off a small chunk, knead it together until both colors get mixed, then apply it into the recessed area of the intake where the crack is. try and smoothen it out as much as possible with a damp towel. and get it done under 5 mins. when it starts getting hot, times up. wait about 4 hrs and it will be rock solid metal. you can sand it smoother and then paint over it. also be sure to sand the intake area first and wipe with alcohol before putting the putty in.
