Re: air airtake
Adding horsepower won't save gas..you want to keep gas mileage up keep your OEM filter clean.
But most people like INJEN, SKUNK2, and AEM intakes...they may add a few HP and increase exhaust volume a bit but wont help gas mileage.

Re: air airtake
they do help gas mileage a little, since most short ram intakes draw warmer air than the oem cold air box. warmer air means the ecu injects less fuel = better mileage. you should gain a coupe hp too since the factory box is a bit restrictive. normally for intakes, you gain around 5-8wtq in the lower rpms upto 3k, then lose 3-5wtq between 3.5-4.5k rpms, then gain 2-3whp between 5-6k rpms. so if you drive with a light foot, intakes are a good upgrade.

has any1 heard of weapon-r CAI? is this a good CAI? it looks good......http://www.ebay.com/itm/WEAPON-R-NEO...#ht_5617wt_952

@rodrj
yep..heard good and bad things...of course...short ram = better gas mileage and full cold air intake = better performance....depends on what your looking for...heard that those weapon r's SOUND amaazing...like a bov kinda

Re: air airtake
its true they dont add buch of any power.
I got all the sound of an aftermarket short ram intake all i did was remove the resonator. its sucking in warmer air which = better mpg. colder air is more dense meaning its got more oxygen which is good for performance. the computer will read this and riched the fueling maps up to compensate for the thicker air. this reduces mpg.
i spent $6 on rockauto got a new air filter and i removed the resonator. it sounds deep and throaty when you step on it just like an intake does.
people who spend $300+ on an aluminum tube that does not increase power much at all boggle my mind lol but to each there own i do not judge

Re: air airtake
between cold and warm air intakes, there is no noticable power difference on these cars. maybe 1-2hp if that. unless we are talking a turbo car, an intake is mostly for sound and maybe looks.
