Intake Reliability...
Intake Reliability...
So I just got a SRI, this one to be exact.. http://store.knfilters.com/search/pr...Prod=69-1008TS
Someone said aftermarket intakes are not reliable AT ALL!!! They say if you have to put oil on the filter it's bad. Do you have to put oil on this?
The same person also said do not get an intake if you have to remove any sensors... I know you have to on this one, but would be the big deal?
Has anyone experience problems with this intake? I know most people love their intake, but if not, please tell me why so I can return this if need be.

the typhoon is a great intake. on our cars, all we have to hook up is the air temp sensor and the pcv hose. these will not cause any problems unless they are loose (they are tight fit on the K&N intakes so youre good). the filter is garbage. i would switch it with an aem dryflow synthetic paper filter that does not require oil. i think the diameter is 2.5 inch, but just measure it when you get the intake. this particular intake also has a rubber vibration mount so the bracket doesnt crack over time. so the only real issue is the filter.

So take the K&N intake, swap out the filter for an AEM one. Sounds good. Just wondering because I just had to dump abount 2K into my car... blown head gasket

yup you will be just fine with aem filter. make sure to get the right size cause they have a whole bunch of em to fit any intake out there. throw it on and youre done. make sure the clamp is nice and tight. the aem filter has a molded rubber lip and you can tighten the crap out of it without breaking. better tight than loose. and no oil needed, you run the filter dry. ive had mine nearly 6 months and it still looks new. i think it will do 1 yr easy and maybe longer before cleaning is needed with the recharge kit.
