Post Exhaust Just For Looks?

That's all I want I guess. Screw it.

I don't want to spend a large chunk of change on an exhaust that is going to give me pretty much no added power and a headache because it sounds like a swarm of killa beez. .

I don't want a really loud car. The sound of the intake is fine.

I would, however, like the tail pipe portion (the part that you can see without getting under the car) to look nice.

I have a chrome screw on type on there right now, which looked nice, but like all of these they end up rusting out and looking crappy, and in this case, it's starting to rattle. Annoying!

So what can I do as a permanent solution?

Re: Exhaust Just For Looks?

Im the same wayy. An exhaust for our civic is like $400 dollars and u gain nearly no horsepower. So i got a hks hi power exhaust.

Its not a catback, its only the rear section. It sounds siick, really quiet too, not loud at all. Almost stock noise level. i got it used for 130$. definitely worth it

Re: Exhaust Just For Looks?

I had a WS2 before and even the catback sounded quiet. But the tip is a bit big for me (4" i think). Going to custom on a rsx-s muffler instead this year, just for the look anyways.

I have an HKS Hi-Power too...i just got custom 2.25'' piping from the header back...sounds nice and deep...but I think I am going to get my 05 RSX-S axleback put on soon....the HKS gets really loud when you upgraded the piping.....

Re: Exhaust Just For Looks?

Its called an "axle back," its from the rear wheel to the tip- essentially a muffler. You should be able to search for them a lot easier using that term.

Re: Exhaust Just For Looks?

Considering what you want, just get a nice quality tip that welds on. won't rust or rattle around if it's a nice one. I found some nice ones at an aftermarket truck tuning shop, around $50. nice solid piece, stainless steel or something that wouldn't flake or rust, lots of options for style. considering you don't want noise, just looks, keep the stock setup(honda exhaust is fairly high flowing from factory anyway) and add a tip.

Re: Exhaust Just For Looks?

I honestly like the tips of the 8 generation SI's. My civic is an 04 ex and the bumper curve matches up nicely plus its not to big. Just gives is a better look than the stock and that screw on tip. Prolly get one at a junk yard if you can find it.

Re: Exhaust Just For Looks?

i would just do what others are saying. Buy a used rsx type S muffler or a 8th gen si muffler. Both can be bought for relatively cheap and welded on for relatively cheap.

Re: Exhaust Just For Looks?

I agree with the others, find a stock muffler from any car that you like and get that welded in place of your current exhaust.

Re: Exhaust Just For Looks?

so investing in a Mangaflow Cat back system will not give me significant gains? Goes to show on the Dyno's that it ups the HP about 6HP and torq about 7lbs. Not bad also the fact its stainless steel and probably wont have to touch that again in my cars life time?

Re: Exhaust Just For Looks?

I have Apexi ws2 and honestly it's very quite, little louder then stock but not by much. I live in a area where cops love to get tinted windows, and loud exhaust tickets all day long. Honestly my Aem V2 is louder then the exhaust with a high flow cat. The exhaust has a nice deep tone...

to save u a few bucks,
someone is selling a used magnaflow exhaust .
check it out in the for sale section.

And you can never achieve those #s with just an exhaust.
I'll say, at most 3HP. It is more for the sound and the look.
For our car anyways

There isn't crap for local performance stores around here. There are local rice stores lol.

I searched ebay, but the results are hit and miss. I can't find for certain what I'm looking for. Are they universal?

Most exhaust upgrades will increase the high RPM power slightly while reducing the low end torque. In my opinion, not a worth while trade off as you rarely spend time at 5000-6000RPM. But you are always driving it around town, putting the pedal down while at lower RPM's etc....

I got an 1999-2000 SI stainless exhaust finisher for my 2000 EX from the dealer. It was $40, and really dressed up the pipe.
