Air FILTER?
alright i have an aem sri on my 02 and its probably as old as the car for the most part so the actual filter i believe is ready to go.....so this may be a stupid question or not but i just want the best for my car so i thought i would want other peoples words....are some filters better than others???(not talking about how much debris it keeps out but the taking of the air)
so if there are better filters than others which one should i get???the replacement aem one or maybe a better aftermarket one which would fit the actual intake???
thanks

Re: Air FILTER?
you should just buy a replacement filter from AEM.. they started putting the "dryflow" filters on that you can wash with soap and water, let it dry, and reinstall
Re: Air FILTER?
x3 on the dry flow. I put an Amsoil Nanofiber filter on my AEM SRI. Technically the AEM dry-flow is the best filtering but I have a preferred membership through Amsoil so I get their stuff cheap
FWIW, oiled filters have a tendency to allow oil through when over oiled (easy to do)..not so much a problem on a N/A engine but I've seen some pics of an intake tube of a turbo'd truck using a K&N...no pretty...

Re: Air FILTER?
Between an ebay one and an AEM one.. the amount of air it lets in will be sort of irrelevant in your search. Just because YOU wont be able to notice too much of a difference in between them. But if you went ahead and got a 14 dollar one from ebay, you'd have a much more likley chance of inhaling dirt and stuff that you're motor really doesnt want. Its a good investment to go with a dryflow.. they keep everything out and provide superior flow.
Re: Air FILTER?
no i understand how important it is to keep debris out i would never buy a ebay filter...but what i was saying i think my filter i have on right now will last me as long as i need it to until i sell my car in the future so yeah...
