Thumbs up Basic Engine Questions

Hey guys...I have a 97 Civic Si stock..I am just looking to improve my horsepower and just overall performance of my car. I am looking to spend about $1000-1700 bucks on my car..If anyone has some ideas please let me know...I am not much of a car guy but i want to start learning so any feedback is good feedback..thanks again.

i beleive your car comes with a b16a2 im not sure but if you can find a turbo kit for your car i say do it. if anything, basic bolt-ons such as intake/headers/exhaust will do and also go with some drop springs!

well seeing the the si came out in 99-2000 my guess is you don not have a si. so if some one sold you a 97 si you got ripped.

si 99+ only?

Not sure where this guy is from but they sure as hell made Si's prior to 99 in Canada. The Si dates back to at least 93 here. So maybe he did not get ripped off as you so nicely suggested.

sorry guys i don't have a pic right now..but I live in ontario and I know for a fact it is an Si...trust me guys i know i said i wasn't a car guy but i know what kind of car i have...i just want to know maybe what you guys think would be cheap mods for it haha

Thank man...well I will look into what parts I can get...I didn't know what the american model equivalent of my car...so that is a big help in itself. Thanks again.

the american equivelant is the ex model or the d16y8, and as state4d above there are plenty of upgrades to do. search the forum, as usual i would say start with I/H/E, maybe a nice clutch and flywheel.
