intake
ok.. ive seen/heard of eveyone doing thing with intakes, and most quite frankly scare me... i mean.. wow.... ok... here is my question...
the resonaor and airbox hold air for the engine while no under exceleration... which is why stock airboxes yield more torque... my question is... what if the resonator is taken out... yu leave the stock intake manifold, but take out the filter, then add an aftermarket intake head.. my other idea would be to make an intake box to hold, when not under acceleration, the air, but make it completey open... im thnking about giving it a try and using an aem intake head... any thoughts???
i'm trying to retain torque and maybe add a little of hp.. nuttin big, just a new project to see if gains can be yielded... plus i have the ability to custom fab the parts...

How are you going to filter the air with not filter? Leave it stock you will be much happier you did. Intakes do nothing for our cars except make it loud

dont take out the filter. from what you are telling us, i say you should just go by you a short ram intake. and plus, buying a aftermarket intake system or whatever will give you only 1 or 2 hp gain. dude that really sucks.
if you dont feel like wasting so much money on a intake, just get a k&n filter and slap it on there.

I dont know how much engine knowledge you have, but your engine is basically an overglorified vacuum. put your hand over your intake and you will feel it sucking. that said, regardless of whether you are accelerating or not, the engine is ALWAYS sucking in air. regardless of whether there is "reserve air" sitting in the intake box or not, your engine will get the air it needs, or it will stall.

as you may know, it make really no difference except throttle response (i assume thats what you mean by torque).
anyways i messed around with mine and built my own intake for free. kept the stock air filter box and replaced with k&n (really makes no difference) and connected a straight pipe from there to the hole near the battery, replacing the resonator. now that that is done, i messed around more for some cooler air. i slotted holes where the fog lights would go and connected bendable piping from there (with zip ties) to the hole near the battery(btw, dont connect the two pipes together cuz when it rains, water might get sucked in and hidrolock).
sounds pretty neat, but as for the throttle responce, i assumed it improved if any. i also assume that the cooler air would help with power.
overall just sounds and since it was free project, what the hell...
