OBX header installed, check engine light on 05 civiC?

hey guys my friend has a 05 civic vp manual and once he got his obx header installed his check engine light stays on and he said he smells gas.. i havent found any threads about it yet so im postin here if this is the right place. is it because of a air flow sensor ?

I have a EX but I am shure the VP has the Cat on the header so when he got a new header he got rid of his cat so that's why the check engine light is on. He should get a O2 senser elimanator. There is a DIY on this site just search and it should come up.

that's the one of the good things about living in the southeast, no smog checks.

yeah the cat was eliminated so you have to get a o2 sim. it's not hard or expensive and there is a thread on this site somewhere that explains how to do it.

yea thats' a lil bit normal. i don'tk now about the whole gas thing but u will smell oders comming out of the bottome of your car from time to time. just make sure all the seals are on ther tight, the seal from the header to the down pipe is what i'm talking about.

well the cat is what takes out the odor and pollution and now he doesnt have one so its just pumpin it out the exhaust. and he took away the o2 sensor so its runnin rich as ****. just get a high flow cat and put an o2 sensor bung in the pipe and it should solve his problems.

unfortunately, he has to do EX exhaust conversion to run a high-flow cat, because the LX/DX header+cat are 1 piece.

right. hes going to have to redo the whole exhaust from the header back to make it legal and solve his problems.

your check engine light comes on because you dont have a cat no more. hope you dont get in trouble for it.

ohsnapsjay08 will become famous soon enough
well i had this setup before, if you wanna get rid of this cel.. simply buy a so called "cel eliminator" just sold mine too ragingspam (my obx) and included the cel eliminator, its a small thing the bolt right on between the o2 sensor hole of the obx and the o2 sensor, you wanna install it to the 2nd or the last o2 sensor (very end/bottom or whatever).

so basically you dont need to convert, but if you wanna be legal then convert to ex.

and se7engen's right, so if a popo opens your hood.. say goodbye to your 200 bucks.

and about the smell, i think you forgot to put the gasket or you decide not to put it cause its too small.. well yep it is to small.. you have to look for the right size, i think its 2" gasket. GL!

btw, you can buy this CEL eliminator on ebay for 20bucks or something. i actually have one, so let me know if you need it.

J

bwahaha^. ya u will pass, but dont get OBX if u have EX, cuz u might as well get a dc sport or megan or hp or something better. ur car has the header as 1 piece which is then connected to the downpipe and then exhaust. sadly for the lx model , the catalytic converter (in EX downpipe) is located in the LX header. so w/the obx header on the LX model, it replaces the cat and goes straight to the exhaust.

i wish i knew about this before i got a lx
