What is the stock muffler inlet size?
Ok here is my situation. I have a civic lx. I cant afford an expensive fancy exhaust kit so i want to buy a new muffler. What inlet size. Is it 2.5 or 2.25. I ordered a 2.25" muffler on ebay and i am just going to get an extension made so it fits perfectly. Will this work?

it's not the type of muffler you got thats going to make it sound like crap. its the fact that youre gonna hack off the stock exhaust from the 1.5" oem exhaust pipe and put a larger muffler in it's place thats gonna make it sound like ****. this my friend, is called rice..

Hahaha, I say that all the time to people. Usually they just look at me weird. I say it even when I'm not talking about car parts

Anyways I'm not hating. Go to the muffler shop and they will help you out. It shouldnt be to expensive since your only getting one piece of piping. Good luck.

Nah, it's cool. Have it done, see how it sounds, and if you don't like it perhaps consider putting another resonator in the piping.

Honestly muffler shops prices are generally pretty cheap. We can guess all day long at prices, but you'll need to go down there and get a quote. Just tell them what you'd like, find the price, and work from there. An exhaust system is like legos. Try different parts until you find what you like.
yeah i recommend getting full piping from a muffler shop. If you already have a muffler it would run about 100$ depending on the shop. About 30$ for hacking off ur stock muffler and welding on a new one.
Just remember.. you get what you pay for. Sure, you could probably get an aluminized press bent full exhaust system for less than $300.. but..
