i installed the dc race header in my 04 ex, but after that i found that the MALFUNCTION INDECATOR LAMP turns on. is it normal just because that stork cat has been removed? how to turn off that lamp. thanks everyone.

if its a resonator or a so called highflow cat from ebay then you will need a o2 simulator to turn off the cel. go to www.casperselectronics.com they will have what you need. otherwise there has to be an actual cat in place

you dont have a cat so ecu thinks emissions is messed up. you need the 02 sim.

just get spark plug defoulers from autozone and drill one of them out with a 1/2" drill bit. then put them together and hook it up to your o2 sensor.

the ecu normally readjusts after a few days of running with the cat off. If not summit offers a product to turn it off

Thank You.

So Why Lots Of Menbers Have The Problem With The Race Header....

Is The 04 Ex Model(the Ecu) Different From 02 Or 03 Because I Seen Menbers Have To Get A 02 Sim To Turn The Cel Off.

02 sim is to keep the cel from coming on in the first place. just because the light went out doesnt mean its not there. have it scanned for dtc's and you'll see its still there.

that is not true. if it sets a cel the ecu goes in to limp mode and you have a consistant afr of 14.7. the problem with this is that you dont need a 14.7 afr all the way across the rpm band. that is the reason why the ecu has preprogrammed cells so this isnt happening. you will lose power like this.

either an o2 simulator from www.casperselectronics.com or put in an actual cat and not a test pipe/resonator

i dont know exactly where th megan relocates the sensors. if its like the ex exhaust then the front o2 needs to be extended about 12" and the rear about 24". i extended them myself. just make sure not to mix up the 2 white wires and be sure to solder them and put soem cold shrink tape on or heat shrink tubing. do you have the megan parts on now or are they awaiting install for the sim? if you have them on now are you throwing a cel?? if you have them on now and arent throwing a cel then you probably dont need the extended wires becasue they already fit. LOL

You will feel gains yes but nothing to brag about. Yes the sound is louder. Honestly, anything is better than stock since the stock pipes are so skinny but id' just get a shorty header to stay emissions legal.
