i don't know if it'll gave you an measurable gains over a clean factory filter. i remember when sport compact car had the great rsx-s intake shootout and they tested a k&n oem replacement filter to give -.1 horsepower. (basically, no change) now, if you swapped a dirty filter for a clean k&n, you'll probably gain a little bit, though nothing that you'd likely notice.

(i don't know if honda uses any ridiculously restrictive filter elements but i doubt it)

^^^ yuup, as tigretek said, it's noticable if youre swapping from dirty paper to clean K&N. But then again, you'll notice differences with swapping dirty paper with clean paper filter. Basically for the Civic, they dont do anything really. It only saves money b/c you only buy once and compared to mutiple changes with the paper. But it doesnt filter as well as paper either.

and don't forget that while you only buy the k&n once, you still need to clean it every now and then and it'll cost you a few bucks for the re-oiling kit.

edit: i'm too used to OT smilies
