looks nice. 5hp increase sounds reasonable seeing as how its not metal and where the induction pipe starts out. the piping to the throttle body is ram air which is another plus. its good for canadians because for aftermarket intakes to be legal the filter must not be visible, which in this case, its not.

I wonder if it was made for both automatic and manuals - or made more specifically for just one of them..

ya well there is a pipe that extends down from the box and if you have an auto the tranny is there so you will just suck up hot air instead.

well, i got a reply:
that wasnt even my question, i asked "for the 2001-2003 Honda Civic 1.7L, does the intake fit on automatics?"
currently Volant does not offer an intake for the 1.7L automatic civic
Re: someone finally got a volant intake?
Hey guys, I know I'm a little late, but I just joined your forum and I installed a used Volant intake on my 05 civic EX SE yesterday that I snagged for $100 on Ebay.
It works well but as most of the other threads say, it is over rated for the original $300 price. Honestly, I cant really feel alot hp gain but of course the car breathes better and throttle response is significantly better. The plastic construction def. improves cooling the air as opposed to metal intakes that warm up as the engine warms and defeats the purpose of even having a CAI on hot days.
I do have a manual tranny and the box fits well but I had to remove the bracket that supports the hydraulic line for my slave calendar, again I have an 05, dont know how that would compare to older models.
Let me know what you think and I'm glad to answer any questions, but I dont have a dyno readily available so sorry, but no numbers.
