so i currently have a DC TCS exhaust. I've had it for a while now, but i've never really heard what it sounded like on the exterior until tonight when i let a friend drive it around the parking lot while i just sat back and watched.
i'm dissapointed.
yes it's quiet, but it seriously sounds like an ongoing series of silenced farts. It's disgustingly ricey, which is exactly what i DON'T want.
So, i am considering in going in either direction. either i want loud and strong, (wrxish), or completely hushed.
What should i do to obtain either of these options?
i was thinking to make it loud, perhaps remove the resinator... would this give a different sound or just make it an ongoing series of loud *** farts? Or should i get a new muffler all together?
To quiet it down i was thinking of installing a silencer, or switching to stock or perhaps the RSX-S exhaust....
what should i do? I'm open to all opinions.

get greddy if you want a deep low growl. i have the exhaust and ive never looked back. btw, the same greddy evoII on the WRX sounds SOOOOO much meaner but on our cars it still sounds nice as hell.

Get an HKS HI-Power. I have it and love the sound, and everyone who trails me in cars on the highway say they love the way it sounds as it climbs the rpms slowly.

i think it sounds good on the outside. if you think thats ricey, i would seriously go back to the stock exhaust because all the rest will sound louder and more farty. maybe apexi wsII will be close to the tcs and a bit quieter.

I have a flowmaster force 2 axel back it is deep and has a good db level(enough to set off car alarms in parking garages) yet still be quite enough to not hear it over my stereo or get a ticket. You can always just replace your axel back(current setup permited). I wish I had a way to record what thia aounds like cuase I love it.

Here's a video clip of it on an ITR. The Civic version sounds just like it but a tad bit quieter since we don't have as angry an engine

I have the HP Racing J-spec, very very deep sound, with the combination of HP Racing shorty with the downpipe(catless) it sounds like a beast at WOT
RS*R is teh seckz!! $799 worth. I would buy it but its not at the top of my priorities. My friend has an 06 type S muffler that he's switchin with my boy with an ej6 for an "RS TYPE" muffler. has anyone ever heard of RS TYPE? are they any good? But anyways im tryin to pry that type S muffler out of my boys cold dead fingers..
Also the apex-i ws is a very good muffler whether u want a low hum(w/ resonator) or a deep rumble (no resonator)

Ok lets see if I understand correctly.
"yes it's quiet, but it seriously sounds like an ongoing series of silenced farts. "
I believe that is what most people refer to a deep low tone.
"i want loud and strong, (wrxish),"
I think this is what most people think of as ricey.
I am not dissing you here just trying to clarify the situation. IMO the sound you are looking for can be found in any of the exhausts out there with a large "can style" blow thru muffler with a removable silencer.
A completely hushed exhaust would be stock. that is the only thing quieter than tcs.
If you want it louder you could try buying an axle back can style muffler and have it fitted to your dc exaust.

try the Tanabe Super Medallion Hyper. Tanabe has great high quality stuff. and i think it sounds better than the Apexi WS, go check out the tanabe website, it's alot more informative than almost all other Tuner companies i've seen in terms of the information they tell you.

dc tcs sucks. I've been saying this for a few years now

hahaha, detailed hate there aznboys, all good though - i respect your opinion as i am starting to agree with you.
i've heard the TCS outside just standing outside while someone revs it nice and high. But when it comes to being further away from it, as if i were another driver on the road, it just sound like... a fart growl? I don't know, it's just not what i expected. I was very pleased with how it sounded in the interior, but yea - not so sure now... so it looks like the HK-HI power, and the APEXI are amoung your guys' top choices, which one would be higher-flow and quieter?

RSR is pretty high flowing and is one of the quietest exhausts at the same time. it has no resonator, only the muffler (if I remember correctly) and still maintains a quiet note. It also looks very nice and sleeper-ish, especially if you keep the tip polished.
let me clarify what I meant about the dc tcs:
high priced = $500+ for something that doesn't give much gains
cheap = I've many stories of DC's welds breaking, including on the tcs exhausts. I've also heard it melts people's rear bumper.
dc products = garbage

Oh god!!! I hate this TCS muffler!! I gotta say this is like the second worst mod being that i had altezzas before. TCS is too restrictive and heavy. I couldnt believe my eyes when i looked under the car and i saw the rubber hangers pulled to its max cuz it was so dam freaking heavy!! Worst exhaust ever. Get Invidia!!!!!!!!!
Get Magnaflow man, our engines don't respond well to blot-ons no matter how much they cost, so stay a bit cheaper, Magnaflows the way to go dude, cheap get a custom catback cut and installed, and your good to go. Magnaflows have a deep sound to them nothing ricey at all!
