I was wondering if anyone can give me the length of the tube between where the filter is installed to where the tube makes a curve? Last year when I first got my car I decided to go on eBay and got a generic CAI. I thought it would fit on an automatic but I was wrong. Never got it to install but I didn't want to waste it so I was thinking of cutting it to make a sri. Anyone think this will end in failure?

just cut it where it puts the filter in a good place.

Doesn't sound like it from your description but was the eBay cai a two piece intake?
If so, it will fit on your automatic because I got it to fit on mine.

Please enlighten me. It is a two piece but the main piece goes from the throttle body to almost halfway down the engine bay and the second piece is about 6 inches long and that connected the filter to the main piece. When I tried about half a year ago I was beyond frustrated. The filter was so hard to get down to where it was suppose to be and some hoses, parts, etc. got into the tubing's way.

Hmm...the cai pipes on mine are almost 50/50 in terms of length.


Does yours look like this?
If so, you might want to saw off your pipe so the end is above the transmission to make it a short ram.
Doesn't really matter exactly where you hack it as long as your filter fits.
I was able to take my bottom pipe off and use it as a short ram.
