unorthodox crank pulley

ok as everyone knows, people mash on this cause they *think* it will damage the engine. I was scared too til now, I asked my friend that has a N/A accord and he told me hes had his unorthodox crank pulley in his car for about a year and a half and no problems. Another friend of mine with a junkyard turbo has one too. HE told me it added alot, especially for turbo... so Im thinking of getting it for the hell of it.. anyone disagree?

the thing with the unorthodox crank pulley is that it doesn't have a harmonic balancer built into it like the AEM one. the point of the harmonic balancer is to reduce harmful and power robbing vibrations from the engine. but honda engines are internally balanced anyway, the harmonic balancer on honda's are just for extra precausion. it isn't really needed. i'm sure you'll be fine with it. also, without the harmonic balancer, unorthodox has a much lighter crank pulley than the AEM.

^^ ok, so this topic has been covered plenty of times and everyone is againest them saying they cause this and that. but yet i do not see anything but words. ive said it in the past and ill say it again, why would they make something that would screw your car up like this.

thats like installing a turbo or nitrous.
and poeple that i have talked to also have crank pulleys and told me to buy one. they havent had any problems. they do not drive honda's. 11 sec 1g talon. and a high 11's evo. so i would buy one. and if your onyl keeping your car for 2 more years F**k it. im thinking of getting one.

I went to a Nopi NDRA show and Unorthodox was there and i got a blue
pulley set for $155 for all three. Apparently they are on special, I'd call them.

I understand the articles and stuff and it all makes perfect sense but I have never seen any premature bearing wear in any of the motors that have run them for extended periods of time. My whole bottom end will be perfectly balanced and I will be checking the bearings once a year. I will be running a 1 lb pulley to run only the alternator. I have no ps and no ac. My buddys b18 turbo hatch picked up a very noticable gain just from one unorthadox crank pulley. Other than that I have seen small gains on na cars. Bottom line is if you run it dont be mad if you lose life on the motor. It may be fine but who knows for sure. Is the gain worth it for you? I guess that would be the question. later guys

There really is no right or wrong answer for this topic! I've heard so many people say either way! It's basically a gamble! You invest in the pulley and hope that it works properly! If it doesn't then you lose your money and possibly your engine! It all depends on whether you want to take the risk! For the D17 motors I honestly dont think it is worth it unless you are building a complete motor with the works! But for a daily driver, or something you drive fairly often and not just for weekends, leave it stock IMO the gains are minimal on D17's something like 8-12 HP! <----- is not worth $200+ to me! Like I said, it's your car and you pay for the maintenence on it so do what you want but if something goes wrong please don't post up here saying that your crank pulley fvcked up your engine cuz by now you should know the risks involved!
