Hey.

I was wondering if anyone can help me. I am thinking of getting a header back exhaust for my car 2001 civic SI canadian.

I don't want to waste my money on a bad one. Can someone give me some suggestion for a good one.

Cheers!

2001 civic si in canada = coupe right? which is basically USDM EX COUPE here in america?

but whats a header back? if you meant catback exhaust meaning the pipes that start after your cat. converter to muffler, there are many choices to consider. depends if your mainly look for sound, performance (doubtful), looks, etc.

if your on the budget, theres those tsudo catbacks that are around 250 ish on eBay, but there real loud as members here who owned them says so.

consider:
-sound
-looks
-performance
-quality fitment
-quality overall
-price range

THEN see which would be suit you best. also keep in mind, by installing a catback exhaust, dont expect high gains of horsepower and loss of torque.

ya in canada an Si = EX coupe. your Si= our SiR. Anyway, u can get a shop to piece ur exhaust together, if u are going for performance, make sure u get a good header as well. I suggest getting 2.25" piping, anything bigger and ull lose torque, and anything smaller and ull rob ur top end of power. Also, try to get a highflow car, and a 2.25" header( if they make them for the d17). Id try out ebay, piecing an exhaust together at a place like Budget Brake and Muffler can get pricey. My Header back exhaust with midpipe with Mandrel bends and 2.25" piping on my CRX cost me 700 bucks, and if i used crushed bend, woulda ran about 500. and ontop of that i had a fireball muffler i bought for 150.

( my prices are canadian for americans thinking i paid a buttload, plus we dont have a mandrel bender in my city so they were all premade and shipped to me)

This last weekend, I had the local shop put my catback on (he didn't want to tie his rack up for hours trying to get my HP full header in lol so I might just do it myself). I drive an EX coupe, and put 2.25" mandrel bent piping, a 30" resonator and a big (3" inlet and chamber) Tanabe SRM muffler. Total cost: around $250 American. Not bad, and it sounds awesome. VERY VERY low "purr". I lost a tiny bit of low end, but the highs are awesome.

Um. No.

Ok, I'm going to keep the laughing to myself, but if you think you can get 15% more power at the wheels by changing so little, you need to change your magazine reading habits.

exhaust wont do much by itself anyway. U have to get a header + exhaust for full gains. and an intake. and ur lucky to get 7-10 whp from all that, with 2.25" exhaust.

So what else should I do to get the extra (5-8whp)? For now.

My goal is 200hp at the wheels when I am done with the car.
Probably do a engine swap, then tweek that one out. (not this year tho.)

I want to go all engine, not turbo. So I am avoiding the turbo if I can.

Anyways any suggestion you have I would be greatful for.

Thanks again. Everyone.
