Ebay intakes
Ebay intakes
Hey everyone. I'm a college student, so cash is not exactly flowing in for this sort of thing, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with any of the cheap SRI's on ebay, specifically the BOMZ kit? It seems to me that most SRI kits are basically the same, but I just wanted to know if anyone knew from experience...Thanks.
ive had mine for a year. its awesome. there is a little black spot where the hood hits the intake but its barely noticeable. i dunno about bomz but i got a sri with a stainless steel filter. 30 bux and since intakes don't do much for performance, it still sounds nice.
v2 seems to be the mother of short rams. In cold weather, my short ram reacts better than cold air intakes or equivalent. It also covers the disadvantages that cold-airs have. Which is sucking up water.
Ebay retailers have the intake for 250+ I suggest looking for a cheaper place because thats an outraegous price for a short ram. Even if it is the v2.
As for the cheap ones, dont even waste your money on them. What you pay for is what you get.

theres a black on ebay.. its made by AI Racing
its about 1/2 an inch too tall so you will have to cut it.. and if you hit it with another 2 coats of paint and 2 coats of clearcoat it will lose the "tinny" sound and make a nice rumble.. you will also need to pick up some hoseclamps cuz it only comes with one and you will need 3 big ones and two little ones..
the filter comes dry but if you hit it with the k&n filter recharge (cleaner) kit it will be good enough till you come up with $50 for a better filter..
overall no complaints cept that i didnt know it was 1/2 an inch too long.. so i had to fix the 2 lil chips it made on the bottom of the hood..

for $30 and 45 minutes of my time to cut and paint it... im not complaining

My personal recomendation would be an AEM Short Ram Intake, because you don't have to worry about water problems. Hope this helps.

Why not get the "name"?
The name has proven to be more sucessful in manufacturing, design, etc...
I would never risk buying a generic intake for risk of poor fit/quality.

bought one for $20 off ebay, filter came dry and the vent tube was a little off center but it worked fine, fit fine and caused no damage. I ditched it cause they dont do jack and they are loud as hell. I got so tired of people looking at me all the time. Go buy a napa gold filter and call it a day. but if you insist on an intake why spend a ton to find out they dont work when a cheap one will tell you the same thing for way less

If you hear the name and you know it, it{s because it has been out there and has proven succesful.
You won't hear much about something that just doesn't work, unless if you hear it just doesn't...
If you hear about something that doesn't, well it just won't probably survive... like AEM and Injen CAIs have done.
