ACT clutch goes in dec. 31, ANY TIPS?
hey guys, welp im finally ready to drop in my new ACT HD00 clutch kit this friday on new years eve, before i do so i was wondering if any of you have any tips or tricks for the install. i imagine someone in here has done this clutch install before, any problems or weird things to watch out for. just by eyeing up the job is looks like its gonna take a good part of the day, especially doing it in my friends garage on jackstands!

wouldnt suggest doing it on the floor...
i would suggest putting in a new flywheel while ur at it... or at least resurfacing the old one..
tips:
keep all the bolts organized, disconnect the battery, have someone ready to turn the crankshaft to access all the bolts, have threadlock handy
careful to not get any of the friction surfaces dirty with grease and oil... it can cause uneven wear
also.. while ur at it, swap the release bearing...

yeah im resurfacing the flywheel at work, and i have no choice on where to do it, pep boys where i work wont let me use the shop lifts
yeah it's going to be a pain on the floor. Make sure you have something holding the block up, you can't get away with hoping the motor mounts are going to hold it. and if your on the floor b carefull when the sub frame drops. Good luck. should be a solid 5 hour job if all does right.

Hey if you don't mind... could you do up a DIY when finished? I'll be helping Big install his new clutch/flywheel and it'd be nice to have a write up.
wow man good job with that be careful ive never done a work of that magnitude and i dont think its an easy one make sure you have all tools and power tools will be easier to use and make it faster.

my friend and i installed a new clutch on my car about 2-3 weeks ago. what we did was get a jack and jack up the car. then we put the car on some jack lifts. i think thats what they're called. and then we took the axles off etc etc. for some reason the tranny wouldnt come out. we tried EVERYTHING and we couldnt get the tranny to come out. so we turned the tranny to a certain angle and installed the clutch. just takes a lil longer. but its hard, but if you know what your doing and you get the tranny out, it wont be that hard. i suggest you get some new bushings for the axels too because one of my bushings tore. 10 bucks each at the dealership.

get the honda bible and make sure you torque everything up to spec. Factory service manual gives you a step by step.
the easiest way is to have the tranny tied to the side in the engine bay. you have very little room to work but its better then taking out the tranny.
btw the manual shows you how to remove the tranny from the bottom i took mines out from the top to swap my busted tranny.i think someone else removed theres from the top too but i cant remember which member.

i think its way easier to remove it from the top... altho i dont think that its right..
you probablly wont be able to get enough leverage to tighten the bolts... theres no friggin way you can fit an impact gun in there
an air rachet you can fit in there.. but you cant use that to fully tighten the flywheel bolts
its a 2 person job no matter how you look at it.. dont forget to replace the output shaft seals on the tranny and top off your tranny fluid
the fluid will leak when you pull out the axels..

from the top, crazy... well i dont have the honda bible nor can i get my hands on one before friday, looks like i should just do it blindfolded, it would be the same thing lol
When I swapped my motor, my friends and I found it easier to pull the entire motor and transmission out then to seperate them in the car. You might save more time in the long run when performing the work out side of the engine bay anyway. I have an automatic and pulled the motor from the top. Not sure if this would be more or less difficult for a manual transmission.
