Got the Unorthodox crank pulley on.

What a day! After screwing with my ES rear motor mount trying to get that mothe****er to fit I got started on the pulley.
I ran into a snag. Couldn't get the bolt off, and I didn't have the right socket to get the alternator bolt off. By this time I was pretty frustrated and hungry so I packed up and was ready to pay someone to do it.
Went home got a bite, clamed down and I decided to give the crank pulley another try and just leave the alernator alone.
I got a stronger impact wrench and got that bitch loose. Then I had to figure out which bolts I had to loosen on the alternator to get the belt to slide off. The tension wingnut was almost all the way out and it wasn't loose enough. So I found three other bolts and that did the trick. Got the stock belt and pulley off no prob. So I go to put the UR pulley on and I knock the key out. Just my luck the thing falls right in a very small hole in the frame. 1 in billion odds. So I spent an hour freaking out nd trying to fish it out with a magnet. Couldn't get it. I was about to drill a freakin whole in the fram just so I could get it. That's how crazed I was. But with the last bit of sanity I had I asked the on hand mechanic there at the hobbie shop what I should do. Well he had the magic touch and was able to get it out with magnet. I told him if he ever sees me downtown to flag me down because I owe him big. So this time I coverd up all the holes with a rag and slid it in no prob. Tightening the belt was kinda a bitch cause that wing nut is in such a tight spot. Actually almost everything was tight. I can officially say my car kicked my *** today, but I got the job done and I learned quite a bit.
Even with the troubles it took me about 3hrs start to finish. Anyone with a basic knowledge of how cars work could probaly do it. I'm not to mechanically inclined myself and really didn't have a clue going in, but as with the rest of my mods I can say that I did all the work. Along with a helping hand here and there from my fellow 1320racing members.
If you have any doubts pay someone to do it and save your self the trouble. If your not afraid to mess something up and have the desire to learn then go for it.

Oh yeah def. helps. My 17's are light and good enough for the street. If I want the best times at the track with minimal HP I gotta go lighter and smaller. I'm about to order a pair of 14" Volk CE28N. 7lbs a piece . Stock steelies weigh about 15lbs. Should be good for .2-.4 in the 1/4? I'm gonna order them before I leave so they'll be here when I get back from the desert. Gonna take 90days to have them imported from japan.
With the new pulley and new tires on the stock steelies I'm shooting for a high 14, but a low 15 would be alright. We'll find out next Sat when I test the new setup for the first time. Can't wait!

Wow good job. I would never touch that stuff. Looks like you got the timing right and all? See if it's any better at the track.

timming? as in timming belt and all that stuff. All I did was slide the stock pulley off without moving the crank. Then slide the new one on aligning it with the key. Didn't have anything to do with the timming as far as know. Runs fine, just a little more engine noise when you rev it up, do to the lack of dampner. Def pulls a lot harder above 4k. The directions say it will take 5-7 days for the ecu to adjust for maximum gains. Just in time for the track .
In the mean time I got a big race against another 00 SI tonight. Just about everyone in the city knows it is going down. 1320racing gonna run him too. Gotta squash the big debate here on the local forum in shreveport of wether or not a Dseries can take a B16. I've beaten a modded 04 and an 00 so I'm looking for the turkey tonight. Don't like to street race, but I gotta rep the D17.

Too say the least. I'm sore, aching and my hands are all cut up.(need some mechanic gloves). Hopefully it will all be worth it at the track and tonight. I probaly could have taken the SI w/o the pulley, but I wanted to be sure.I still can't be too sure though. He might have something new too and beat me. Guess I'll find out here shortly.

Like your sig buy the way. I would love a JDM K20 $$$$, but I'm gonna see how far I can take this d17 first.

Well I topped off my horrible day by almost going to jail. I raced the SI. Got em once then he got me twice. The thing is they pulled the old driver swap. The guy that owns the car and that was talking **** supposedly got stuck at work. The guy driving is a bad *** driver and has driven several peoples cars at the track to their best time. I'd like to run the person who owns the car at the track and see what happens. He would start pulling on me once his 3rd gear VTEC kicked in. D17 vs SI on the street.
SI good driver wins
SI poor driver Loses

Also I had no idea what he had under the hood. Oh well can't win em all.

Now here's where things turned for the worse. I asked the dude with GS if he wanted to run next. He said no? STill don't know why. Was he scared or did he think it was a waste of time for him? I was about to ask why. Then the sherriff pulls in and blocks our only exit. Got about thirty of us for tresspassing. I almost went to Jail because I asked where is it posted? And I found out afterwards that some redneck law down here says if you don't have a letter from the owner to be in thier parking lot he could arrest us. So I'm like I'm from NY and I was unaware of such a law. He's like well this aint NYC boy. I ****ing hate Cops! Especially southern redneck cops. Wasn't gonna let him Punk me. I was like sir you can not take me to jail for asking a question. He was like will let a judge decide that monday morning. So he puts me by the back of his car while he qeustions each person individually. I cal my wife on the cell and let her know what's going on. Cops Like ten feet from and I'm like this guys gonna take me to jail for asking a question. I told her I hope he does cause I'll sue the pants off the city for wrongfull imprisonment or whatever. Called Sup on base told him what was going down. He said don't worry he can't do anything. He let us all go in the end. He ran everybody's liscence. We were out ther for like two hrs. What A day!!!
**** cops!!!! Sorry Eric

Yeah just the crank pulley, because I would have to remove the alternator and power steering pump to get the alternator pulley off. Didn't have time. If you have a shallow 22mil (maybe 24mil can't remmeber) socket or wrench you could possibly get it off with out removing it. I just couldn't get the clearance with the tools that I had. So I just did the crank. I used a 985mm Gates belt. $20 at O'Reileys. The directions said 985mm and had a part # listed but it was the wrong one. The part # I used was a K060380. Worked perfect. Tightened it to about a 1/2 inch in play. Directions also said it takes 5-7 days for the ECU to adjust and get the maximum gains. Just in time for the track.

Everything is still good. Definite gains.
At the track I'd say it was good for at least 3 tenths maybe more. I made one pass on my 17's and ran a 15.4@88 with a 2.2 60ft. I'm guessing the BFG's gave me the other 3 tenths for the 15.1.
With similar temps (50's) I ran 15.7@88 on the stock wheels and tires before the pulley.
Prior to the pulley I had also ran a 16.2@?? with a 2.3 60ft on the 17's, but the temp was near 80 degrees.

The car is about to go on jack stands in my garage for 4 months within the next two days. By the time I get back the car will be one year old with only 7500 miles. I'm gonna have my wife start it at least once a week. Hopefully that will keep everything running smooth for when I get back. If nothing new comes out by then I'm going to Get the ZEX wet kit and see how deep into the 13's a 50 shot will get me.

It would be better if someone could drive it on the freeway. Starting and idle will really mess up the engine with carbon deposits and such. If noone can drive it, maybe think about long-term storage, but there's alot you have to do to prepare for that.

I bought a 25ft dryer hose to hook to the exhaust and vent the fumes out. That way I figured she can gas it for a few minutes and rev it up to 6k a few times. Would that prevent the carbon buildup?
I would let my friend drive it, but I'm reducing the insurance to save money.

instructions say 5-8hp after the ECU adjusts(about 7days). I think that's pretty accurate just from my butt dyno and track times.

Nice to hear the gains. I was thinking of gettin one soon. As gearbox said, its only 500 for a new engine on Ebay. I can get wholesale on any engine, so maybe even cheaper for me.
