mil eliminator diy
mil eliminator diy
Alright guys, I have a high flow cat on my car and have had it on there with a mil eliminator from big josh racing for about a year now w/ no problems. A couple weeks back my little malfunction indicator lamp came on. So I went to auto zone they said the code said I was getting is high voltage from my 2nd o2 sensor the one behind the cat. So I put in a new o2 sensor, that worked for about a day and then the light came back on. Then about a week later it went off and then came back on, and off, and on. I'm wondering if this is the mil eliminator or not, like if it went bad or something. Also the car seems like it doesnt want to go, right before the light comes back on, its like the car is being put in safe mode or something? Can someone elaborate on this?
And second the real reason I posted this is I was wondering if someone, knew how to make there own mil eliminator. I can solder all the stuff together If I just what to buy and a diagram of how to build it. Thanks for the help in advance.

Anyway, why dont you get a real high flow cat so the light doesnt come on. I bet you are running a downpipe with a resonator that the company calls a high flow cat and thats why the engine light is coming on. It isnt reading the correct airflow. Anyway, big josh racing has one and one other place, they all pretty much do the same so just pick one.

Well actually your right about the high flow cat thing, its not a cat. Its just a resonator with the honeycomb stuff inside.
But last night I made the eliminator that is on the link above. Can someone let me know if you think this will work. I should be installing it this weekend. Hopefully it will get rid of it.

Alright guys im off work tomorrow so I'll be installing my mil eliminator that I made hopefully. So for those of you that want to know I'll post an update and let you know how everything goes and then give another several weeks down the road and so on, if it works! Lets pray it does.
Alright guys I installed the mil eliminator. I've had it on since monday night the 6th. The light is off and has not came back on, i'm pretty sure that it worked, because the car is running a thousand times better. With that malfunction indicator lamp on the car was running horrible, but now like I said it runs great. So if you have any questions on this just let me know I will be glad to help out any way I can.
Well the mil eliminator makes your ecu think that you're still running a catalyctic converter when, I actually have a megan racing downpipe. So it tells the computer that the o2 sensor after the cat is working properly. Basically it blocks the high voltage that is going to the ecu. You plug it in inline with the black and grey wires off your o2 sensor.
I have a MIL eliminator installed on my car as well, however I did not notice any difference between the way the car ran with or without it. The only difference was the CEL on while I had no MIL. Funny you should mention that your car runs differently with it installed because I did not notice a change.
Well actually my cel never came on just the malfunction indicator lamp, the little yellow light next to the temperature gauge that looks like an engine. It didnt run very well when it was on, but the light would go off and come back on and so on and so forth. Anyway everytime it was on it ran bad when it went off it would run ok, and then I would feel a little stutter and it would come back on. But now no problems and running great. If your ever comes on and you go to auto zone and they tell you its your o2 sensor is bad dont listen to them probably your mil went bad, im assuming my resistor went bad on it. Because I had mine on there for a year with no problems and hopefully im good now for another year or more. Anybody got questions let me know.
I meant to also tell you guys ive had it on for a week now and no problems, whatsoever. No light or nothing so any questions about how to build it or anything you guys just let me know.
bump...so reality is your light still off? I have a random tech cat and im still getting the light, so im assuming the stuff inside is deteriorating. Anyways i need more make a eliminator thing, so let me know how you did it.
Id appreciate it.
Thanks

that is your CEL light. and yes what u did will work fine as u can see with the casper 02sim and the one that big josh sells.
this is the one from casper electronics.

it's pretty much the same as u made just a lil prettier. :P
I just ordered the casper sim, two days ago, and as soon as I ordered it, the next day the mil light turned off. I have had a HP racing header w/high flow cat on for about 2 weeks. Should I still install it, or just wait until it comes back on? It has been off for about 3 days now. Interestingly enough, it never turned on after I had the car sitting for about a day and a half after constant use.

yes put it on, your light will come on again.
Big baller yes my light is still off never came back on and have had no problems from it.
Skapunk 82 its only one, one microfarad capacitor, he needed two because he was making it for a mustang so he had to make two seperate eliminators. you will only need one.
