ummmmmm.....if i just wanted sound i would just get a generic one. i don't have any intake , but when and if i do get one i'm just getting a generic one because they don't offer any performance anyways, so why spend a load of money on it? and i don't think a short ram will hydrolock, i think the intake needs to be fully submerged in water in order to suck it up. someone correct me if i'm wrong...

im not clear on how it works either im pretty sure i've seen it on sounddomain maybe it explains it... uhm about generic i've been told generic will work the same so from what i've been told it'd be the same, but since i have no experience, all I can say is.. thats what I've heard..
I have AEM V2. And I maked cai from it.
Left wher your battery is you have open square, so we cutted it out to an cirkel, and bought pipe that connects my front bumper hole with chasis (where we couted out cirkle). From there we connected another pipe that goes to intake. Then we have made cold air box from fiber glass, to protect my air filter from hot air, and connected it to piping. Because you need cold air in your engine. What colder the air is that more air you can get in your engine.

why not just pull the resonator and buy some plastic tube to draw air from the front where its cooler. that way you get cold air, cool sound, very cheap, and you get to keep your stock filter which works way better then the cone style

not really harm anything, its not stock but an intake does the same thing. The portion of the stock system where the filter sits is fairly small and open inside. It is connected to a large iregularly shapped box that sits next to the clyinder on the passanger side. that connects to a small tube that ends up behind the battery, where the air is coolest. Each of those connections is fastened by a rubber boot and each portion is bolted to the car. If I recal correctly, its easiest to start by removing the center section that contains the resonator. It is held in by soem 10mm bolts that you can find with a little looking. You will need at least one socket extension to reach one of the bolts, possibly two. Once you have the resonator and small tube removed, you can find tubbing in the size you need at either a harware store or a pool supply. It shouldnt cost more then a few dollars. The best part of this is that you get to keep the stock filter element and those are so much better at keeping dirt and crud out of your engine. Does this make sense or do you need pictures?
