My filter fell off??
My filter fell off??
When I got the car into honda for a tranny fix, there was a distinct rattle from 2nd gear and above when making only right turns. They informed me that my air filter was missing, I was very confused by this. I looked under the car to see the clamp still in place with a piece of the rubber nozzle of the filter still on. After that it look as if it ripped off? I am not sure if this has happened to anyone else but it was weird since my filter is tucked under the plastic undercarriage protectors, not sure how it happened.
What rattle are you talking about, is it like a gear grinding or just a vibration in the engine area? I have a problem with my car not going into 2nd gear when making a turn sometimes at slow speeds.
I don't think buddy here is talking about an aftermarket intake such as AEM/K&N/OBX...buddy is riding with stock air filter. what might of happened is your mechanic is ferking around with you. that's the only reason I could think ofl.

^^^ Am i missing something? how would a OEM air filter "fall out" of the stock air box? and he said he looked under the car for the filter, so it was probably a Cold air intake.

possible that the rubber has over time become brittle and fell off. Ive never heard of it but that doesnt mean it cant happen. Or maybe the clamp wasnt on tight enough. What i dont understand is how you cant miss something like that falling off.

What happened with my brother's OBX was that the oringal glue was crap and it was dried up and brittled. The part that connects the cotton part with the inlet was where the glue was....
When I pulled my AEM CAI filter to clean it, I noticed that the rubber around the clamp was ripped looking, like it was torn or something. About half way thru. I had to move the clamp up on the filter a bit to get it to grip the whole thing.
I assumed it was
A) I had the clamp too tight
B) the eingine moving causing the filter to hit under the hood somewhere
