Whats the down side of buying a cheaper muffler?
dc and greddy is great, but what is the downside of buyign something cheaper like ractive or obx? As far as HP goes even the best muffler don't really give THAT much extra HP so just wondering what were the downsides. If you want to get technical, thats cool
I like to at least check the quality of the material....not that longevity is that much of an issue (I don't really plan to keep this car for 10 years), but I don't want it to come apart or corrode on me.

Well, it depends on the whole exhaust setup. I just got a obx muffler from my friend. On his car it sounded like ****. On my civic I replaced the muffler only. So the converter and the resionater is still there.
i have a universal TANABE STYLE muffler on my 01 civic with 2.25 custom piping with the resonator removed and it sounds pretty good. comparitively speakin to a greddy or tanabe or apex, it probably sounds like crap...my mom said it sounds like a fart, but shes just a mom...so whos askin her anyways. anyways, when i have the money, im getting the greddy evo or the tanabe racing medallion....the only reason i got mine with the custom piping and the universal muffler is cuz nothing was out yet when i got mine done about a year ago. go the extra step and buy the good stuff, you'll be happier!!!
When you put a universal at the end of a skinny pipe it sounds like a fart. I hate to say it but our civic has a skinny stock pipe so you have to cut it of and have a bigger pipe welded. man, i would just go with a cat back. look at my greddy evo.
