FIPK vs. FIPK II??
OK, so here's the deal. I have an ebay intake. It's actually really cool. It's a SRI with a mock-CF shroud that takes air from the grille. Anyways, I wanted to buy a k&n filter for it because it's about time and the filter it came with was crap to begin with. I bought one from Advance Auto, but it was just a little bit too small to fit around the tube. So I returned it and got my money back, and now I'm looking at a FIPK II. The problem is this:
I feel like I should buy it from Advance Auto because they helped me out a lot with the other filter and this intake, and I respect patronage. But the thing they have is only listed as a "Fuel Injection Performance Kit." My question is: I hear all about the FIPK II here on the forum. Is that just the newer of 2 FIPK's? Would the one I buy from Advance Auto be the same one as I would buy from robearracing.com? Thanks.

Theres the Typhoon K&N system, which was the first made for our cars by K&N. They say its a CAI but its just like the AEM v2, a little to short to call it a CAI, It only runs around 180$ if you search

OK. here's my most basic question: is there a difference between what people here refer to as the FIPK II and what Advance Auto sells as the FIPK? I know about the typhoon, but I'm only really concerned with the FIPK's, as indicated in the thread title.

well, I've truly always wanted a FIPK; i was just too cheap to get one. I've finally convinced myself it's worth the money, so I'm going to buy it now since I have the money now.

FIPK II refers to Generation II. I believe the difference with the FIPK and the FIPK II is that the Generation II comes with a heat shield and the FIPK doesn't...? I THINK i've read that somewhere but i'm not positive. Maybe someone can verify that.

alright. I decided it wasnt worth the risk to get it from Advance Auto (plus it would have been something like $30 more), so I got it from robearracing.com. Should ship out tomorrow
weird... looking at your sig, IronFist, afer I get the FIPK2 our cars will be almost identical, even down to the tires, except for your wheels and the front strut bar.

Hmm. I'm thinking about getting from robear as well. I found a site that sells S&B filters. They are like cotton gauze but much better quality and performance than K&N. Would be a good idea not to run the K&N that comes with the intake.

so the filter that comes with the FIPK is no good? This whole thing spawned from the desire for a better filter for my old intake, so I'm looking for a good filter. Could you hook me up with a link to that S&B site?

Should be everything to convince you...and there's a couple links to the new filter at the end of the first post.

I'm gonna wait til I get it for a couple reasons. One, the inlet has to match the size of the K&N. Two, a bigger filter is better (more surface area), so I'm gonna see if there's any room to maybe get 1-2 inches longer. The S&B will still outflow the K&N because of the velocity stack design (open front cone). Unfortunately, this may make the filter louder than before.

theres somebody here who put a HUGE filter on their FIPK. I dont remember where I saw the picture, but it was a gigantic cylinder filter that barely fit inside the heat shield. You may want to do a bit of searching.

I just did about 20 min of searching and couldnt find it. My FIPK will ship out tomorrow (hopefully). I'll let you know when I get it. I'll measure the inlet and take a look at the spare room factor.

actually, i think there's 4. The FIPK, the typhoon CAI, the typhoon SRI, and the 57i induction kit. I don't really know what the 57i is, but here is the k&n web page on it: http://www.knfilterchargers.com/sear...x?Prod=57-0525

Click here for the dyno chart, or click the link above and then click on "dyno."

same here. I doubt it will get there this week, seeing as they inspect each order before it is shipped (ordered mine on Saturday and will HOPEFULLY be shipped tomorrow).
Also, when measuring for the S&B intake, is the size measurement the INSIDE of the filter? (outside of the intake tubing the filter fits onto) Just making sure.

I'm not really sure. On the website it says flange ID, so I'm assuming that's the diameter of the intake hole that the filter will go on. I'm just gonna measure the intake pipe diameter and order based on that. Hopefully they have a size that fits it. The differences are .25 inches, so probably.
