If you do a search on K&N there is a thread that has been going on for awhile that says that K&N filters aren't as good as originally thought. So my guess would be the air hog. Plus Fram is a great company.

Unlike disposable air filters made with paper, the FRAM AirHog filter media is comprised of a quadruple layer of precision weaved cotton gauze. Held in place with a screen-back mesh, this construction allows the engine to “hog” all the available air. The increased airflow can result in greater horsepower and acceleration for better vehicle performance.
I would say that the filter is very similar to K&N.

any time you increase air flow, you decreas filtering..... so, any High flow filter will filter less then Stock.

Correct, you lose tq with the filters on a stick and you get a $.99 filter with it at that. I wouldnt trust it to clean the air.

I doubt you noticed any difference with the K&N. All I got was more noise than the paper filter I'm using now. Car pulls just as hard.

yup. and at least its reusable.

I'd prefer that than a filter on a stick that doesnt do anything.

he might have wanted to keep the airbox. unless ur willing to take out the air box and reinstall it when u sell. then a drop in is perfect.

Yeah, K&N gives better air flow because it doesn't filter as well as paper filters. The whp gained is not significant enough to justify more dirt in your engine. To get the best of both worlds I went to my local auto parts store and opened every air filter box until I found a cone type paper filter that was twice as big as the k&n. Bigger filter= better air flow plus it's cleaner air. The only problem was I had to fab an adapter(rubber fitting from home depot) because the inner diameter of the filter base was larger than my intake diameter.
But yeah..... For those with fipkII try this fram number CA9345.... I think thats it. I actually got the Napa Gold equivelent to ca9345 but i forgot the napa part number.

well the power is great with the drop in

if you notice the engineering that went into the stock setup
honda did a lot of work. im sure they didnt do this
for poor efficiency

next ill remove the large resonator and see what happens
