Will an intake work for me?...
Hi guys,
I am not into performance parts for my car, but the extra weight that I added from car audio, the constant running of the A/C and the new H.O. alt that I bought (that uses UPTO 7hp to turn), I am in need of some more power. I was thinking about an intake, specifically the one made by K&N (fipk?), but I have an auto, will this intake work for me? I really dont want a noisy car, but I figure the intake will make noise at high RPM's, and be relatively quiet at low/mid RPM, am I right in assuming this?
Please let me know if an intake is what I should get, or if I should get something else to help in performace (no ECU upgrades available huh?).

you going to need more than intake.. if you want that one then go for it .. i got a aem cold air.. but its going to slove your problems.. try looking into how to reduce weight in your can.. any extra **** get rid of.. cf hood is a good way to start.. what is your box made out of ? try getting a much light material insted of big wooden box.. and make the box alot smaller to cut weight of. racing seats and light *** rims would help also... headers and exhaust hi flow cat would help the intake lot more.. and can keep going on if you want me to.. thats just a couple of ways going at it..

darn, thats what I was hoping not to do. I can try to lighten up the system, but its that alt thats doing the most damage. I've noticed that most people are not getting the HP gains after spending $1000 on performance parts, and thats what I don't want to do.
Any idea how much HP and noise a K&N FIPK will make? If I can get 3-4hp out of it and acceptable noise at cruising speeds (3500rpm or less) than I will get it.
How much was your AEM? Do they make one for autos?

K&N is dyno proven for 5whp, and it's only noisy at high rpms. Even then the sound ism't bad. Going 65mph on the freeway will sound just like stock. I had it on when my car was stock and felt a little difference. It's the best intake, imo. Had an AEM previously and hated it.
