this is an update from truehonda, that i got when i was talking to him about buying the engine.. it made me change my mind.. i just want everyone else to know what i was told...
---------------------------
Session Start (exzaccanti:truehondacom): Mon Mar 28 10:38:53 2005
[10:39] exzac cant i: hey this is matt. the guy that kazey told you was interested in buying the engine...
[10:39] truehondacom: Oh hi how are ya!
[10:39] exzac cant i: not to bad..
[10:39] truehondacom: How can I help ya bud?
[10:40] exzac cant i: i had a few ? about te whole thing. mainly what was the agreement with crower for the engine. also what are the specifics for the engine, i.e. parts being installed, warrenty, compresson, etc.
[10:41] truehondacom: warranty = none, just on the crower parts themselves
[10:41] truehondacom: you will get any stage of cam you like 1,2,3
[10:41] truehondacom: the head will be polished, cams installed, new valves, springs, retainers
[10:41] truehondacom: cam gear
[10:41] truehondacom: etc!
[10:45] exzac cant i: the reason i ask is because my goal with this engine is to boost with it. my understanding is that when the engine is finished. in a sense it will be a stock engine but certain parts will have been replaced with crower parts. they are also NOT going to dyno any of the finished product except the cams. also the time line i.e. date of completion is still up in the air? could you shed some light on all this?
[10:47] truehondacom: You basically have it down
[10:48] truehondacom: the finish date is somewhere mid-end of spring
[10:48] truehondacom: the cams will be tuned and they will give you a spec sheet, but you will not get a fully built race motor Ready to run
[10:48] truehondacom: it will have a very nice head and all crower products
[10:48] truehondacom: it will need tuning
[10:51] exzac cant i: it sounds like a good thing but i cant justify spending the $2500 on a crower parts engine.. i will let kazey know that i wont be taking the engine.. thanks for your help either way..
[10:51] truehondacom: why?
[10:52] truehondacom: you are gettign way more than 2500 in parts and work
[10:52] truehondacom: especially something thats not even available
[10:55] exzac cant i: i understand that. but look at it from my point of view. i spend 2500 on an ex engine and crower parts installed.. but when i get it im boosted so i have to have it tuned. that will cost me more money. im mean i would love the parts but not for the 2500 right now.. i also cant justify spending the money and having to wait until---> mid-end of spring.. thats still a while off.. do understand why im thinin that way?
[11:01] exzac cant i: did that make sense?
[11:02] truehondacom: yes
[11:02] truehondacom: i got ya
[11:03] exzac cant i: well thanks for your help with everything. i will let kazey know that i changed my mind..
[11:04] truehondacom: ok

Hey Matt that's great and thanks again Eddie but Matt I've got a few questions.......
1) Are the setups for an all motor and turbo the same? NO
(No it isn't, All motor=high compression + Lots of tuning
Turbo=Low compression + Lots of tuning)
2) Are the engine internals for each setup the same? Yes except for
*pistons (high comp for all motor & low comp for boost) &
*cams (a turbo grind is better suited for boost and a stage 3 is better suited for all motor)
3) What is the reason for engine internals when boosting? To be able to run more boost with the right amount of tuning safetly......
4) What's the price for speed???? It all depends how far one wants to go
but all in all speed cost money. (Take not of that MATT
)
5) Is Crower a reputable company compared to DH racing? That IMO is no comparison Crower is superior, but at the same time DH Racing sell a race engine or so they call it for $2500 which is more or less just the bare engine with the performance parts as option for the engine for more money...
(Matt you won't need any tuning, just drop that engine in and go drag..
)
6) What is the price of Dezod's turbo kit, and can you run high boost all day long? The base kit cost $3299. (Good kit Dezod) and you cannot run high boost on your stock internals. Try and install that and run high boost Matt and come back and tell me what happens
After all I could keep the engine but I don't need it because my K20A
(type R) is about 50% installed however all input would be appreciated on this topic guys..

dude he wasn't tryin to be a **** about it he was just throwin out it his point of view. i'd buy it but i kinda have bigger plans *cough* k20a turbo *cough*..shhhh don't tell no one haha i'm already at 5300 saved up so hopefully this time next year i'll have it all installed and what not.
truehonda said it comes with Crower's billet steel rods, valve springs, retainers, cam...
I believe it may have CP pistons too, but I don't remember.
Kezay wants to sell it for a pretty big amount, to me an amount that doesn't justify what you're getting (you're still ending up with a D17 in the end).
