air intake/cold air intake
yes the temp of the air the colder the air the more dense and better for combustion.
the cold air intake usually is longer and draws air from out side the main part of the engine bay. as the regular aftermarket intake draws air from beside or above the engine but is easier than the stock system to draw air porvideing more air on demand but at a little warmer temp.

to better explain this, a regular intake usually draws in the hot air, usually the air from under the hood, as where a cold air intake, the filter usually sits behind the bumper and draws in the cold air through the fron or sides of the bumper.

Don't get one. I speak from personal experience when I say it doesn't do anything on our cars. I even lost some low-end power. Not worth it.
no matter if its a cold air, or short ram the only difference the two have over the stock intake system is it sounds alot better and dresses up the engine bay alittle i guess, no power gains, maybe like 2

Cold air is in theory better, but a lot of times since a cold air intake is longer than a short ram intake, the extra length of pipe slows the air down. So with a cold air intake you get less, colder air, and with a short ram intake you might get more air, but it's warmer.
If you want an intake, get the K&N FIPK II. It's a short ram intake but it has a heat shield so you don't get warm engine air. Plus, the tube is plastic so it doesn't get hot. Most intakes have metal tubes that get very hot under the engine. Yes, intakes don't do that much for us, but if you are going to get one K&N FIPK II is the best (and there's no low end loss of power like with the other intakes).
