The question is, is it worth replacing the cat with aftermarket cat and get fined $25000 in return for another horse or two. Probably not, I would just stick with DC if emission worries you.

well in the lawbooks it states that yes you do get a fine of $25,000 for air pollution...
if i was to take my cat out and take my car to get an inspection sticker, and if they do an emissions test (every 2-3 years) then i basically wont pass, no biggie, no fine...
but some places, if your pulled over, and you have a really loud exhaust, or a rich smell coming out of your exhaust, an experienced cop might check for a cat (they have these radar things that check the db rating and if there is a cat present) or they may issue you to get an emission test the next day
i have a friend who did a headerback, straight pipe from the header all the way to the muffler, it was do damn loud, and smelt so bad,......yea, he never got pulled over or anything...it only lasted a month before his dad found out, and forced him to put everything back in

I have the obx (DC replica) and it seems to be fine.
performance isn't something I can tell though. lol. couldn't tell much with my previous header even though I think both gave more high end go... but I kept wondering if its all in my head (probably is, since my butt dyno can't detect +1-2 hp)
the overall construction of the obx one is a 7-8 though. (out of 10) the price is like 9-10 cuz its so damn cheap compare to the alternatives.
I should have waited and grab a ceramic version though.

well, i just bought a Megan Racing header used for $75 shipped. That's $50 plus shipping, so I'd say that a damn good deal even if it doesnt add anything but in my head. I'll let you know when I get it.

Well as far as I know the Kamikaze header does give more torque and hp. So for $260 shipped for the black coated I don't think that a bad deal. Then add the Random Tech down-pipe w/ high flow cat for $300 shipped.... There will be gains. $560 for more power. Damn $560 is what we spend on a cat-back exhausts.
