exhaust size for SF turbo kit

Wat would be better to run on a civic that as the SF turbo kit on it. A 2.5" or a 3" pipe with the muffler? Wat companies offer 2.5" systems, and which offers 3" systems?

typically you'd want a 3" exhaust for any turbo application. less back pressure on the turbo.

woh .. how much boost? If you are barely boosting it 2.5 is good. If you are cranking up the boost then get 3". .

Question..

1) Does a blow off valve decrease back pressure on a turbo?

2) and if so.. Would you be able to go with a smaller exhaust size and a bigger blow off valve?

A huge exhaust pipe is meh.. A huge *** blow off valve would be awesome IMO.

I dunno what you need though. I'm new to the subject of turbo's and back pressure and blow off valves.. Just trying to figure stuff out. My bad if I sound n00bish.

it shouldn't matter for how much boost. the back pressure is already at the turbo(impeller?) inlet. you just dont want back pressure coming from the other side.

Doesn't more boost = more pressure? 3" is good, but 2.5 would suffice if you didn't want a huge honkin' pipe coming outta your car.

1. bov has nothing to do with the exhaust... the bov is there to release pressure in the intake

when u let off the gas the throttle body closes but the turbo is still spinning trying to force air into the engine...

if there is no place for the air to go, it will go back into the turbo and cause it to slow down or even spin backwards... then the turbo will have to spool up again...

so you need to release the air somewhere else, thus the bov is there as an alternate route for the air...

you need a bov because when shifting, your letting off the gas but you want the turbo to keep spinning so that you still have FI in your next gear...

2. i don't think bov size matters? i dunno about that one...

haha.. bov sounds are hella cool.. i was wondering.. would a greddy evo cat back exhaust suffice for turbo applications? 60-70mm piping (2.36"- 2.76") where the max boost pressure would be... maybe 10-12 at most?
