Kazell did it and the product is a total ripoff. He charges fricken $170 for it and it's not even true CF. It's just CF overlayed on a stock gas door. You don't even save any weight by getting it.
The cost of the product for him to make is $25 including all the parts he needs to do it. Then he goes and charges you out the azz to buy it.

cant wait. I also did a gas door. Heres a pic of the gas door. Its overlayed, i too am planning on a mold to make a full carbon gas door. Havent started on it yet though.

making the door will not be a problem. I am stumped on the hinge. Not sure how to get it to bolt up oem. any ideas?

Rice? Im so tired of hearing that term. I see in your member rides you have racing seats and harnesess, but all I see under the hood is an intake. I believe thats rice. Get a turbo, then worry about shaving the weight. Carbon fiber is not all about weight reduction. Take interior pieces for example. You take a carbon fiber gauge pod and weigh it. Then take an ABS plastic pod and weigh it. I bet there isnt any difference. Its cosmetic. It looks good. and as far as removing your sound system to save weight. Thats just flat out rediculous. You act like your Eric Aguilar or something. You have a civic. If your not planning on dumping $15000 under the hood. then you shouldnt even be talking about racing. And not all of Kazells work is overlay. You get some work in a mgazine, then talk crap about him. Youre just judging his work by a gas door. Its not fair. Let me see you make one.

I'm not saying that CF is rice. I love CF. "CF overlay" is pretty close to rice in my mind since real CF is mostly used for weight redux, overlay CF is like a cheap(or in Kazell's case, not so cheap) substitute. I consider rice to be a mod that is "supposedly" for performance but actually provides no gains or help.
You even agreed with me about the seats so I'm not sure why you consider it rice. The seats are not just for speed but also for turns. Turns is probably the biggest reason to have them. They keep you stuck in that car with very little movement.
I'm not here to argue either. I actual enjoy these debates. Especially since you and I have been able to keep a level head on this conversation. I actually just noticed that you live in Greenville. I'm in Charleston, but my car just won best of show at the Southern-imports car show there about 3 weeks ago. We should meet up sometime. 2k2civicray lives in greenville also.

Seats arent always rice, just whe you have them and your motor is pretty much stock. Our cars do good on road courses due to handling and suspension. The weight and an intake has very little to do with that. could beat them without an intake. CF overlay isnt rice IMO. Just depends on what your motive is. Racing.maybe rice. But alot of civics lean more toward show than race. And theres nothing wrong with that. To each his own, as the gas door. To each his own, but you dont have to dog Kazell because you dont agree with it. I've been meaning to ask you , is that blonde in the pic you? Would like to meet up with you guys.

Rep Power: 412 Kazell, I know your work is great. I've seen the quality. But there is a difference in paying for quality work and getting ripped off. Think about it. Lets say you sold 10 CF gas doors at $175. You could have sold 100 gas doors at $100 and made way more money for your "hard" work watching resin dry. Better marketing will get you a lot farther.

Rep Power: 321 well lets see umm big damand for a CFgas door...Um ...no ... now if there was that means i could a lower price...i dont have to go to handa and by the door one at a time...ok now i have to CF over lay it....ok time to prep...cool. well then theres the epoxy...you have to know how to mix it or it doesnt dry....um or worse catches fire...ya... brushes..air compress time use...hardener...mixing sticks, cups, drop cloth.....breathing mask's...wait lets put a prce on my life for wrking with with all this CF, sanding it and what not...breating it in, getting it in my skin..itching like crazy.....wait dont forget you still need a painter to clear and fog the whole thing..well now i have to pay for his time and materials...cuz he's not going to do it for free...ummm 40 to 60 bucks there...well what do you know buy the time the whole deals done....i made a cool whoping 75 bucks....wait dont forget shipping....wow...and pluse there is other stuff for other customers that needs to be made...
all for one littler door.....you see you need to look at it from a business stand point and untill you own one or try and get one started youll never know...cuz i used to be just like you...
