Yah, I was thinking about getting it JetHot Coated, but doesn't it cost somewhere over $100 to do so. Nevertheless, I do like the finished product after it had been JetHot Coated.

P I believe is pulley.

EX Kamikaze header does not replace cat. I guess some people now finally realize that anything that passes through the cat passes emission which = the worse gains. DC Sports anything isn't worth money I'd clean my butt with.

Hey Steve, do you know anyone who has their stock LX exhaust? When I'm ready to get the piping, I am gonna need someone's exhaust system and I don't wanna drive around with nothing bolted up to the header.

P=Pulley lol sorry. Yeah, that black powdercoat didn't last, i drove about 20 mins home after I installed my header, and when i got some, it already looked faded. But like I said, i could care less cause im gettin it powdercoated later. There's no HP difference in what kind you get, so i just went with the cheapest one. Better look=better price. Then again, some people dont like too much silver/chrome under their hood.

LX Exhaust? Nope, no clue. Get some shady shop to just make a pipe to replace the header, that's going to be a bitc* and a half to find unless you get a hookup on the DX/LX exhaust.

Im just gonna need it temporarily...

Or maybe it'll be fun driving with an open header... heh, nah. I'll be driving in neutral 70% of the time. It would be so ****ing loud... and sounding like ****.

There's one thing I missed that I just thought of.

You cannot put an EX header on an LX without replacing the front anti sway bar with an EX one due to clearance issues.

Think there will be clearance issues with an LX header and an EX front anti sway bar? If I'm not mistaken, I believe Grey did put an EX bar on his LX already so i assume there won't be any problem.

Gotta make sure though.

Hmm... didn't realize the front anti sway bar would be a problem for both EX and LX.

if you're going to slap on an ex exhaust manifold (header) with the ex downpipe/cat convertor (stock or aftermarket), yes.. you'll need a new front sway bar... since the EX sway bar clears the way for the cat convertor, or a "highflow cat"

to clear up some misconception on header design... a bigger "fat" tube diameter doesn't mean its a better header...

what changes a powerband from a header are many other factors besides the tube diameter. other things such as primaries and secondaries length, bend, merge style, stepped or unstepped, are ways you can design a header to yield powergains at specific curve in the powerband.

bigger tubing isn't always good, although it increase the flow of exhaust, it also kills the velocity of exhaust flow. hence carefully R&D header can work fairly well. (on other applications, anyway)

if you compare the kamikaze LX/DX header to the stock EX header.. you will see some similiarity there.. by increasing the length of the primaries, the LX/DX header will most likely increase power in the higher rpm range, but also take it away from the low end.

the EX kamikaze header may be very similiar in design, up to the point where the 1st o2 sensor ends.. and the primaries merge.

anyhow, back to the DX/LX header... I think some increase in air flow may make the header more worthwhile... a simple intake may not do the trick, however.

kamikaze headers are favored among superchargers due to its high flow design... but thats not really an option for us.

Yup, any kind of swap EX/LX or LX/EX header is gonna have to acll for a new sway bar. Run it open header, i wanted to, but didn't have the time or the patience lol

If i have to replace my stock EX front anti sway bar then I might decline from doing this. It wouldn't be a thing if I didn't put handling over straight-line speed (and I like that front bar right now considering it's size for the 2k2 Civics) so it still doesn't leave me with many options. Because I've never installed a header, or have really seen the EX header conversion for the LX (let alone the LX's front sway bar), are you sure it won't fit? It just doesn't sound right...

You need the EX bar for an EX header on an LX for clearance issues... meaning the EX bar technically allows more space for the design of a possibly wider header, right? From what it sounds, if I did put the LX header on, I should not run into that issue, right?

Yeah, I know the LX needs an EX front sway bar for more clearance for a header/cat.

The EX exhaust system bolts up a lot differently than the LX because of where the cat is located. What makes this difficult is that I don't know the difference in size between the LX header and the EX header when it's around the sway bars for each car. The only way I could find out is by asking my friend who's done the conversion or looking under an LX and my own car for comparison. For now I'm still positive it can work.

Kamikaze Header

No need for a new gasket, the gasket on your head now is a metal gasket, from what I have seen they dont wear out and with only 11k miles whats the point. Not many people have 20 or 30 bucks to wasted on a more then likely less quality gasket. The stock gasket is a metal gasket, unless you damage it there is no reason to change it. The gasket stays on the egine usually when you pull the old manifold off. Save your money.

I did an oil change today and decided to take a better look at the EX front anti sway bar. I would somewhat understand how the LX sway bar would get in the way if it didn't curve upward around the cat but I still don't know what it looks like. I'll try to get a pic of the LX bar if I can later or if anyone else can do it who has an LX, it'd be much appreciated.

Looks like the LX sway bar curves the same way. But I'm guessing the curve on the LX is smaller than the curve on the EX because the EX has a cat there and the LX doesn't. I don't think you'd have to modify or buy an LX front sway bar. It doesn't look like it's necessary since you're going for the LX exhaust system.

Awesome. Then it'll definitely fit. Much thanks for the pic, Chenz. The LX bar looks like it doesn't curve up as high, that's all. No wonder the HP header with cat won't work without the EX bar on an DX/LX.

Looks like everything's been mapped out. It seems odd to put an LX part (even aftermarket) on an EX but as long as it works, it's all good.

Thanks everyone, for your help.

No problem! Show us pics of the final product! I think it's a good route to go if you don't want a cat. Let us know how things go.

No, that's not what I meant. I was just pointing out I see why the HP racing header w/high flow cat won't work with the LX exhaust.

You are saying the LX exhaust piping will fit the HP cat that's designed for an EX exhaust? Because I'm saying the HP header w/high flow cat won't work with an LX exhaust - because it won't and this is why:

#12 is the piping of the LX exhaust where it hooks up to the cat.
#11 is the piping of the EX exhaust where it hooks up to the cat.
#4 is the EX cat + downpipe that goes to the header.
The cat on an LX is right under the header. That's why the exhaust piping curves upward on the LX.

The cat is in different places for both cars - thus an EX exhaust can only fit an EX header and an LX exhaust can only fit an LX header.
