Kamikaze header question... already searched.
From what I understand (correct me if I'm wrong) the Kamikaze header with straight-pipe (that replaces the cat) is LX only. Is there a way for it to fit an EX? That's all I want to know.
I realize Kamikaze has an EX header but it's only a shorty header that keeps the cat. That I don't want.

Actually the Kamikaze header for the LX does not come with with a straight pipe (I have the Kamikaze header sitting in my room for my LX). The header itself replaces the cat on an LX.
If anything, talk to Robert at www.bigjoshracing.com. You can PM him too. His name on here is bigjoshracing. But I think it's best to contact him thru e-mail.

All I know is that the O2 sensors are in different areas for the LX and EX but I would like to know exactly what needs to be done.
I PMed the guy as I'm in no hurry for information. Thanks for the info.

if you search I've posted the pics on stock ex and lx header.
what you can do is type header in the search.. and type in username, capyoda
you'll see that I've posted quite a few info on it.
the kaimikaze header for the EX, to my knowledge, is the same deal as the DC one, the HP shorter one... etc. etc... just a direct replacement of the short ex stock header... doesn't touch the downpipe/cat convertor at all.
you wont have to deal with o2 sensor too, since those aren't on the stcok ex exhaust manifold (header)
ther's basically two. one before the cat and one after.
same goes for the LX. sine the LX has the cat convertor at a diff. location, the o2 sensors are two diff. locations too (further up)
search for those pics.
gives u a better understanding of what you're looking for/dealing with.

Gracias, y0!
EDIT: All the threads I found that you started had to do with a generic E-bay header in terms of header threads. Care to provide a link?

And why does the nickel polished version cost more than the high temp black coated header? Wouldn't the black one technically outperform it? Or does it just cost more to make it look shiny and polished?
Here you go:

I remember seeing that thread as well. The one where CapYoda posted these pics:
EX Exhaust Manifold (aka Header):

DX/LX/HX Exhaust Manifold:

The rest of the exhaust system:

Yah, I would think it's because of the type of coating used. If you'd like I can take a pic of my header. I got the High Luster Ceramic finish though. I haven't installed it yet.

Sure, go for it. And thanks for the pics.
From what it looks like, the Kamikaze LX header won't bolt up to an EX exhaust, eh? The mid-pipe for the LX bends up where it connects to the exhaust?

Sure. I can do the pics when I get home from work.
Nope it doesn't look like it will bolt right up to the EX exhaust. How were you planning to get rid of your cat by getting the Kamikaze header for an LX?

I have a question for you guys. I was going to post a new thread, but I might as well post here. I'm going to be installing my Kamikaze header soon. Is it necessary to change the gasket as well? I have 11,500 miles on it, if that matters any.

Get new gaskets with new header is what I've already seen.
I didn't understand the design of the LX exhaust. Technically I would need an LX exhaust for it to work. Guess I shouldn't be surprised - EX header requires EX exhaust and LX header requires LX exhaust.
However...
My other option would be to get custom piping for the header and use any muffler I want which could give me better results than the stock piping. There is a way to make it work.
Thanks for the replies. Got my answers.

Smog time comes, I'll just put everything from the stock header and exhaust back on to pass.
Oh, and I will dyno it.

Yup!
Oh, one more thing... Since you're not going to have a cat, you might want to think about getting a MIL eliminator from Robert www.bigjoshracing.com so that you're Check Engine light won't come on. It talks about the MIL elim. on the site. Unless you have some other means of doing it. Just FYI.

Hmm... not sure. I'm guessing you have an EX because you also bought a downpipe. I'm pretty sure it'll fit. As long as there both made for the EX. Doesn't HKS make headers as well?
Friggen Zell, lol, I have the Kamikaze. This is all from what I understand. There ARE two different Kamikaze headers, one for the LX (that elims the cat), and one of the EX. The only thing is, since the EX header is in a different place, I don't know if the header actually eliminates the cat, unless it comes with a custom downpipe or something. But like somebody mentioned before as well, you want to get the MIL Eliminator unless you want your check engine light coming on. I put mine on, and it was a Bitc* trying to get my o2 sensors to reach the right side of the header, so i use the MIL eliminator as an extension to get those over. numbers, i dunno. I have I/H/E/P so you really couldn't get an accurate number on them. Whatever you do, dont get DCs. Those are garbage, 300 bucks for no results. And i think somebody else mentioned the black coating coming off, that header gets hot as hell, and the black coating looks like it's been sitting in the sun, but I could care less. I'm gonna powercoat it in a few months, i just got the black coating for the price. Bigjoshracing.com is a cool place, just email them and let Robert know that you know Steve (with the green 2k1 and the black kamikaze) and he'll hook ya up.
