Quaife ATB differential?
I emailed Quaife to ask about the differential... this is what I got. Seem accurate, or wrong?
"Alex,
Thank you for your inquiry. Please bear in mind that I am not a Honda expert, but to the best of my knowledge the 2001> non Si Civic's still use the old "reverse rotation" drivetrain. If so, than the diff for these applications is 60.309.155 which has been in use since the '88 model year. The later Si & RSX motors spin in a conventional direction and thus use a different differential that will be available in the coming weeks.
If any of this information is incorrect, please give me feedback.
Regards,
Ralph Hollack"
I searched, so if this is old news, I apologize. Just wondering if anybody has any thoughts on this.

if anyone has access to a parts book then you could check to see if they are the same. The only people that would benifit from this would be the turbo crowd.

Well - I just checked out majestichonda's website - it appears that the older style civic's differential is a different part number than the 2001+. Its really interesting - the stock differnential gear goes for about $250.....Most of Quaife's applications go for $800+....
BUT - I would be interested in trying one out - I'm sure it would help with a turbo. I hope they DO come out with a new LSD for our car!!

I wonder how much a shop would charge to install one? I mean, its not a light task...
I was reading through the Helm manual last night, you pretty much have to tear the complete transmission apart just to get the differential out. Plus good 'ole honda does it again by making all sorts of special tools that you will need to either take things apart or put things back together.....
I found a cheap place that sells the one which everyone says works for our car ($695) - but installation might just kill that amount....

I guess nobody has tried this?
I might go for it eventually. installed a kaaz in my d-series trans a few years back. probably go for a quaife this time. It seems like the old d-series would work. I see the differentials have different part numbers, but they still do use the same bearings, still 10bolt differential. I am thinking it will work, but nobody has tried it. I mean, it would be a bit cost ineffective for honda to change the design radically on these transmissions.
aah nevermind they are still $1000. hahhahaha. maybe I'll find one used.
